Overview
The Crest's main theater seats 1,000 and has hosted performances by artists ranging from locally grown Cake to Nirvana, Ray Davies and Train. Refurbished to its former glory, the Crest drips with vintage style. A beautiful gilded ceiling pattern gives an air of elegance to whatever the Crest presents--be it the annual Sammies music awards, one of promoter Jerry Perry's charity music showcases or the latest underground films on three screens.
The Appeal
Grab popcorn or candy at the snack bar and view theater artifacts and memorabilia encased downstairs. This theater gives Sacramento a sense of big-city confidence and charm. No flashy Hollywood blockbusters here. The Crest screens obscure, independent, art-house films, and film festivals like ''Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation,'' which has drawn quite a following in Sacramento. Classics like "Sunset Boulevard" and "The Graduate" are also popular.

A fine theater indeed. The larger screening room is better but it's a wonderful place that shows a variety of films.
