Build colossal salads, nosh on tender slabs of meat or concentrate on a side of spuds at this spacey place..
The Scene
Pluto's has landed in Davis, advertising "fresh food for a hungry universe," as well as an interactive dining experience. Brightly colored, curvy tube-like lamps dangle overhead, and one wall is lined with space-related names. Read a book from the bookshelf or sit at the counter and choose a magazine from the built-in bookstand.
The Food
Grab a menu/ticket to get stamped at any of the three stations: Greens & Things, Meats & Poultry, and Veggies & Spuds. Choose an item on the menu and the server will prepare it to your liking. The space theme even applies to the food, with the crater of orbital soup, Saturn's garlic potato rings and crispy chicken asteroids for "little astronauts." If you're starving, but don't want anything too heavy, go for the salad and choose any of the 14 toppings for your enormous serving. The meals are fresh and filling, but Pluto's is mostly about the experience.
