I was thoroughly impressed with the
show and service that I received at this theatre while attending Wicked. But here is the deal breaker for this venue. There is not enough bathrooms or lobby space or concessions to handle the number of seats the theatre has.
I am not exaggerating when I say that women have to stand in a line that goes from one side of the building to the other during intermission and before the show. Before and after the show you are like cattle in the lobby and the concessions lines. I was shocked to see how poorly the infrastructure for this building was designed.
The last remaining tent theater in the United States gets a facelift--and much-needed air conditioning..
The Scene
If you've never experienced Music Circus, make this year your first--you'll become a devotee. This intimate theater in the round has a reputation for being casual and friendly. The Music Circus has also had a reputation for sultry temperatures ambiguous seating, but this, too, shall pass. The installation of a new tent will allow the Music Circus to recirculate the air in the venue for the first time.
The New Look
The new tent (made of the same Teflon-coated fiberglass fabric used in the construction of London's Millennium Dome) will also eliminate the need for the tentpoles that obstructed the view for so many patrons in the past.
In addition to improving the acoustics of the Music Circus, the new covering is expected to last 25 years, about three times longer than the old canvas tent.
