Awesome sandwiches, great market. We have had lunch here a few times now and the sandwiches are the bomb. The Michaelangelo is great. The Da vinci is really good to. We shopped for goodies for our tailgate party and they had the best party goods, especially the cookie section.
Best place to shop. Not only is this store a Sacramento Icon, but you can find things or order them, that you cannot get anywhere else in Sacramento. Perfect place to shop during the holidays for your family favorites that you cannot find anymore. GREAT WINE SELECTION!!!!
A supermarket for the discerning palate and indiscriminate wallet..
The Scene
A venerable Sacramento institution since 1947, Corti's is the place to go when you are on the lookout for a wide selection of unique domestic and imported foods and sweets. Need a gallon of milk and dish soap? You can pick those up too. While you are there, get lunch at the deli counter. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, full of recommendations. Sounds like a fantasy in today's world of gigantic, impersonal food stores.
The Food & Drink
The smell of freshly-baked sourdough wafts through the air. The butcher's selection can be overwhelming: meat, poultry, and fish so fresh it may have just been caught. Pick up some imported cookies, Swiss chocolate, a freshly-baked cheesecake, fresh pesto for dinner, Italian pasta for the pesto, and greens for salad. The wines are from all over the world and range in price from about $10 up.
GREAT STORE. I have been shoppping at Corti's for over 30 years...what a great place to find Italian specialties and other gourmet items...But, I do miss the Freeport Blvd. store and the other two, now gone...wish they would open more, again
The Place For Wine & Cheese. I was shopping for a wine and artisan cheeses to serve as a cheese course at a dinner party. I started at Corti Brothers, went to David Berkley's to compare offerings, then returned to Corti Brothers to buy. Corti Brothers store is nothing to look at, but the wine and cheese selection is excellent. Unlike David Berkley's, there is parking, elbow room, and customer service. In the wine section I spoke with Donal Smith, who found me Bonny Doon's Muscat Vin de Glacière 2000 (he also recommends their Framboise). In the cheese section I spoke with Sheila, who proved extremely knowledgable about artisan cheeses and recommended a couple of French A.O.C. cheeses to replace the elusive Cowgirl Creamery Red Hawk that -- alas! -- they no longer carry. The customer service was amazing, and their selections impressive.
Produce good and service horrible. Corti Brothers carries some of the best products, but the manner in which they deal with their customers is horrible. They have long lines at the deli counter and at the check out counters. It is insane. Their phone manners are even worse and they make you feel like a second rate citizen.
