A Delicious Catered Affair. Latitudes is our favorite restaurant in the Sierra Foothills. With their focus on using local grown produce and the best ingredients possible, I knew this is where I would have my husbands surprise party. Each month features the food of a different region. Our party was fortunate to have "Spain" with its family style dining. Pat was more than accomadating in making sure every detail was secured and in place. Pete and Alice in the kitchen make the most wonderful dishes. Our chicken in orange sauce was delicious! The seared beef was passed twice as were the specially prepared red peppers stuffed with lentils, fingerling potatoes and beans in a paprika sauce. One of our guests had a specially prepared tofu created for her by Pat. My favorite is Tiramisu. I have yet to have found one as light and yet deep as the one at Latitudes. The service was outstanding~ thank you Gerri and Pat.
An unique and memorable place.
Latitudes is certainty one of the more unqiue higher dining establishments that I have gone to. The restaurant offers friendly service from the owners and an intimate meals where you don't feel crowded and you can enjoy your meal. On top of that, they offer a monthly menu based on a latitude on the globe.
We enjoyed the december holiday based menu and had duck and ahi tuna. The Tuna was excellent, grilled just right with a touch of horse radish to taste. The duck beast was grilled. Although it was cooked well, it was a bit to gamey for my taste. I expected it to be braised or marinated, but it appeared (as well as tasted) as it was not.
OverallIe had a good experience here and would definitely recommend others to try this place.
Quaint mom-and-pop restaurant in a landmark Auburn Victorian home serves eclectic American food and monthly international specials..
The Scene
Outdoor deck seating gives way to subtle pastels and well-spaced tables inside the historic John White house. Hanging plants, gorgeous floral arrangements and displays of decorative art complete the serene environment. The waitstaff offers helpful suggestions and knowledge of the reasonably priced wine list, which highlights local vineyards.
The Food
Generous portions of homey comfort food and a rotating menu of global cooking accommodate multiple palates and dietary restrictions. For appetizers, the roasted garlic is flavorful but not overpowering, and the almost-vegan clam chowder is sufficiently rich, even though it substitutes flour and olive oil for cream. Entrees delight the senses: German-inspired cider chicken is marinated overnight in buttermilk and seared tender sweet; jack cheese and spinach crepes topped with jack and turmeric are enlivened by lightly stir-fried vegetables and tofu; and special ethnic offerings like Indian leg of lamb simmered in tangy yogurt sauce are worth straying from the regular menu.
