What People Are Saying About Redrum Burger

The Scene – The regular following keeps Murder Burger going. While a large portion of the clientele appears to be budget-conscious and hungry college students, you'll also find lots of families with kids, teens and even irreverent pregnant women satisfying a craving. – – The Food – So good, it's to die for. Or so says the sign outside the burger shack. Here meat lovers will find finger-lickin'-good burgers, huge portions, salty fries with the skins still on, and "agricultural alternatives" such as the O-burger. Yep, that's right, we're talking ostrich here.…

It will always be the "other" name to me

When I lived in Davis as a student, and then just a civvie...this joint was a staple...especially when I worked for riki fashion at their wholesale shop just behind the place. It is where I fell in love with the chicken fried steak...and of course...the ZOOM. Who can resist deep-fried veggies? Of course, if you order the ZOOM be prepared to share. It's pretty big. Even though I don't live in Davis anymore...when I'm in the area...I make my husband get off the freeway (and since Murder Burger is conveniently located on Olive Drive this is no hardship). It's a novelty to him...as he is truly a SoCal boy...and he always wants to go to In-n-Out across the street. (I love In-n-Out...but they're just interlopers in the Davis burgerworld as far as I'm concerned.)
- Pros: FOOD!
- Cons: no parking on a busy night
Don't come here hungry

I recommend coming here at least an hour in anticipation of any hungry feeling. The quickest wait I've had for food was 30 minutes on a slow day(yes, I timed), and the slowest was nearly an hour and a half on a busy day. I know that good burgers can never be rushed, but no hamburger should ever take 30 minutes to cook. I've also noted that most of the time, the food comes out somewhat cold, indicating that the order does spend quite a bit of time sitting around.
Honestly, I haven't tried any of their exotic burgers to date, just the 1/3 lb redrum burger(which IS pretty good), so I can't judge on their whole menu. In conclusion:
C-
Would've been B+ if service was quicker than 25 minutes.
- Pros: Onion rings, decent burgers, friendly service
- Cons: Glacial cooking speed, grimey interior.
Cheap grub

This is a favorite hang-out at night for the town's college students. The fried zucchini is delicious, and the chili fries are overwhelming and best split between two or three people. Shakes are good, and there's good variety to choose from. The cleanliness of the joint is somewhat uncertain, since they try to cultivate a grimey, hole-in-the-wall appearance. The fried squid is a bit too salty for my tastes. A fun place to hang out and people watch. The hamburgers are common-place, unless you order the specialities, like the ostrich burger. Then, it's just so you can say ate ostrich.
- Pros: very cheap, odd foods
- Cons: location

Okay dont listen to the others. This place has the best fricken sandwiches, burgers, and fried zuchini. Really good not too much $ for how much you get and how good it is. BUTT.....it has really slow service even if not crowded. So dont go if in a major rush and bring a book or something.
- Pros: TASTEY, Good Value, Big Menu
- Cons: Slow Service
