What People Are Saying About Sam's Kosher Style Restaurant & Deli

The Scene – Sam's Kosher Deli prides itself on being family owned since 1976. Daily specials like Monday's meatloaf and Friday's clam chowder bring in asteady stream of regular customers. The ambiance at Sam's is simple, but cozy. It's reminiscent of a kinder, gentler era of delicatessens and restaurants. The modest dining room has old-fashioned, u-shaped leather booths, and the walls are lined with scenic travel posters of Israel. The booths fill up quickly at lunchtime, when you can order a "meal in a sandwich." – – The Food – Try the popular onion roll…
NOT IMPRESSED

My family just moved to the area in August and had been driving by by the deli for months. We were looking for something different and hot for lunch so without a menu I called one night only ot have the phone set down and could hear the gentlemen helping a customer.. No, I have a customer, would you mind holding for a minute (who he was riningup and chatting it was more than a minute), nothing just a rude person slamming the phone on the counter...
So I gave it ONE MORE TRY, last weekend, I called again, SAME MAN, kinda nice, but I really wanted a REAL DELI hot sando! I asked about his food, he was very short but said "the best", I ordered french dip and ruban with pastrami. Hubby went and picked it up and came home and informed me $26 for the two meals?!!!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDDING ME? IN THIS ECONOMY? THEY BETTER BE DAMN GOOD!!!!! THEY WEREN'T.. they were OK, and let's talk about the tablespoon of potato salad and coleslaw we got with them? WHATEVER, OVER PRICED AND NOT GREAT SERVICE.. if you want to pay $12 for a Sando and tablespoon of slaw, have at it.. What REALLY UPSET ME, was he asked my hubby if he had a coupon, hubby said no, and the dude didn't offer ANY DISCOUNT at all to at least try to bring us back. $26 frigging dollars? RIP!!!!!! AND HOW DO I KNOW ITS KOSHER?
Great food and service with a reasonable price

This place had wonderful sandwiches. I got the French dip and the Ruben. The staff was wonderful and even helped by making suggestions on what to order. I have not yet tried the restaurant plates, but I soon will. The serving were huge and I was more than full with half a sandwich and a half a side of fries. I liked the desserts. They gave a great half off coupon at living social deals and honored it well. I really liked everything except some of their customers seemed snotty but thats not their fault.
Restaurant yes, Deli NO

I've been going to Sam's for 35 years and the food is good but a great disappointment to me is the shrinkage of the once "full blown" deli section to a shriveled up case of "this is what we have and if you don't like it then go somewhere else." I've actually been told, on a number of occasions, that I could not have any chopped liver or knish takeout because of saving it for the restaurant guests even though it was in plain sight with a price on it.
If you want deli then be prepared to be disappointed with little choices and high prices BUT the food is very good so eat at the restaurant but beware of the dilapidated disappointing deli!
