You're kidding right ?. I used to work for an electronics plant in Roseville and the gang all went here to Carmelita's regularly until we read they got shut down for using cat, yes CAT in the recipe. The gay guy I worked with on the line at the time ran to the bathroom when we read him the article in the local newspaper. I've never gone back. Cat....really. yah really. enjoy
Best Mexican food east of the Sacramento River.
As with any business, Carmelitas's should ensure that only their most customer oriented, best spoken, and pleasant staff are assigned to answer phones, interact with their customers and ensure that they provide consistant responses to issues like "reservations".
I attempted to make reservations 1 week before the event only after reading that they accept reservations and I was bounced around from one non-english speaking person to another being told that they in fact don't take reservations.
Then I wanted to clarify what their least busiest times were and I might as well been speaking a foreign (non-spanish) language and I was subjected to being passed from one non-english speaker to another. I appreciate the Spanish culture and the flavor it brings to our culture, but if you want to do business and live in the U.S. maybe you should learn to speak our language and learn a little about our culture in addition to your own.
Frustrated in Fair Oaks!
Long time favorite!. Our family and friends have been coming to Carmelitas for over 20 years and it is our favorite. The staff are always friendly and helpful, no matter how busy they are. The food is always excellent (our top favorites are the chicken chimichanga and the avacado tacos for the veg-heads) and usually on your table before you can drink even half of their dangerously good margaritas! If you go to Carmelitas on a Friday or Saturday night, make sure you get a table on the patio, they usually have a Mariachi band that just makes it feel as if you've been transported to Mexico for the night! Looking for a fun and inexpensive mexican restaurant?....Carmelitas is the place!
Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Known for its Mexican-style seafood entrees, the restaurant also offers south of the border favorites including tacos and burritos.
The real deal and a great experience. very few restuarants offer great food and an awesome envoirment, you can come in for a quiet dinner or go all out and party. by the way this the only mexican place where ive seen the staff and customers know each other so well. youll often find people dancing on the weekends.
Live music and a great patio with a view. its hard to get a seat on the patio but its well worth it. not expensive and you always leave full. ive been in the area for sometime now and this is my favorite
