Editorial Review for Constable Jack's – by Daniel Wilson
The Scene
This former billiards club and ice cream parlor from the 1920s kicks into overdrive most evenings as a mecca for blues and Americana enthusiasts all over the region. The stage is dressed up like a Louisiana bayou, while Christmas lights, blues memorabilia, and hilariously kitschy ads from the '40s and '50s adorn the brick walls. Patrons, who come from all ages and walks of life, boogie to some good, old-time tunes. A wide variety of nearly 50 domestic and imported beers are available as well as wine (no hard liquor is served).
The Draw
Constable Jack's has become a top venue for musicians on the blues circuit -- including rock icons Ronny Montrose, It's A Wonderful Day and Big Brother and the Holding Company -- and boasts one of the best sound systems in the area. The music is loud, but conversations can still be held just about anywhere in the club.

I found this place on citysearch, looking for a resturant that plays blues and you can dance the night away. My boyfriend and I went on a slow friday night, but we were definatly not disappointed. We walked into the place and the owner immediatly introduced himself, as well as his whole family! they thrive on it being family owned, and it definatly shines through. The food was AMAZING (stuffed hamburgers/chicken at a only 9$...Delish!). The waitress even brought over a lit candle so my boy and i could enjoy the romantic evening. they definatly go out of their way for you here... Its in a small area of town, and appears to be a small town bar, but i loved it that way. very relaxing! And plus, the music was a blast! Everyone dancing.. It was great. I would love to go back!
Pros: Great food, service, band and environment!
Cons: Dont drink too much, we appeared to be pushed out after a few!

Find a table where you can, they get packed on the weekends, with locals and out of towners. Dancing is almost mandatory, the music will make you want to. They play mostly blues, some R&R.
Pros: the homey local bar feel, the decorations add to it
Cons: It can get crowded on the weekends depending on whose playing, so you would need to get there early for a table
