What People Are Saying About Romano's Macaroni Grill

The Scene – On any given night, you may see half of Roseville's inhabitants waiting patiently in the foyer for that pleasing plate of pasta. Opposite the bar is an open kitchen, where a dozen "Chef Boyardee" look-alikes in white hats and red scarves cook fast and furiously for the continuous stream of patrons. The atmosphere is casual, and strolling opera singers are known to stop at your table and belt out an Italian ditty. – – The Food – Dealt out in generous Italian-sized portions, it's just like nonna used to make. Choose from antipasti, chicken…
Editor's Tips
- Bambinos Welcome:
- This is a great place for large groups and children. Along with plenty of child-size menu selections, there are crayons on all the tables, and the tablecloths are made of paper. Even the adults seem to enjoy doodling before dinner.
- Drink Now, Pay Later:
- Each table is supplied with a huge jug of wine. You tell your server how much your table had to drink, and he or she charges accordingly. Remember—crime doesn't pay.
Great restaurant

I find the Macaroni Grill to be at the top of my list on excellent restaurants. It can get busy on Friday & Saturday nights but I usually call ahead & make reservations. I've always had excellent & friendly service & I love the food. I've been to more expensive restaurants but the Macaroni Grill is the best in Roseville or Elk Grove.
- Pros: Excellent service & food
- Cons: Can get busy on weekends
Really disturbing service

My wife and I have been here before, and have enjoyed the food and service. However, last weekend we chose to eat dinner at Macaroni grill, and when we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by the snippiest, rudest young woman I have ever met. When she tried to seat us at a table way in the back (with almost no light), we asked for a booth a little closer to the 'action' and with adequate light to see. She got really hostile, spoke so quickly that neither of us could understand her, and then stalked off. Then I looked over to where she stood near the door, and the young woman was imitating my wife!!! We discussed it with the manager and quickly left. After having travelled on business for 20 years, and having eaten just about everywhere in the US, it was disturbing to receive this kind of treatment two blocks from home.
- Pros: good casual dining Italian
- Cons: Ghaslty Service

Ate here, oh, sometime last year. Maybe I'll try it again in another, oh, say 15 years. Why do they call it Macaroni "Grill? They don't have a single macaroni dish on their menu. I had the ravioli. I think the head chef ought to go to the Espanol so he can see what a real ravioli looks and tastes like.

I was hesitant to try this chain restaurant, but finally gave in to my spouses pleas. I was so surprised by the comfortable environment and the friendly service that by the time the food came, I was ready to forgive it if it was chain restaurant quality. I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was beyond delicious, rocketing this place to the top of my fave list!
- Pros: Decent prices, GREAT food, Friendly service
