The Scene
Marilyn's is modest but comforting--Light Rail turns a corner right in front of the bar's many windows, lending the place a delicate urban atmosphere, and the colors and furniture are deliberately non-threatening. There's also a step-up stage area to one side, where weekend-warrior local acts like Funkengruven and Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers strut their stuff. The servers and bartending staff are generally a friendly lot.
The Crowd
Marilyn's doesn't have many tables to speak of, but who needs to sit when one can join state workers and aging hipsters in some stiff-spined bon-bon shaking on the makeshift dance floor?
The Food
Aside from the complimentary bowls of chips and popcorn, Marilyn's doesn't prepare any food on site, but the bartender will place orders at local eateries and have your food delivered to you at the bar.
