AWSOME.
I don't know why so many people gave this place a bad review, I thought it was amazing. The portabella sandwich was excelent and had a nice sweet taste. and the Angel hair pasta was perfect! GO HERE it was the most perfect tasty place ever!!!!!!!

DON'T EAT HERE.
Don't eat here. The food was awful. We had
the two dinners for $25.00 special - chicken.
It was March 03, 2011, at 4:30 P.M. It was
greasy and poorly cooked. The free desert
was $6.95 (check number 4014). The house
wine was $6.50 for a six ounce glass. The
desert was stale. There were only eight persons eating but the sole waiter was rarely
in signt. He went home and didn't inform us.
The total cost was $60.00 with tax and tip.
We took the chicken as leftovers but we could
not eat it. It was just horrible.
The Fat's Asian Restaurant was a better
restaurant, but the owner simply does not know
how to manage two restaurants at one time.

AVOID ANY PASTA OR MEAT DISHES.
We went to Fat City with another couple. This was our second time there and their first. Anyway, the we ordered the meatloaf, a steak, the pasta and a chinese chicken salad. The steak was nothing but fat, the meatloaf was salty the Fat's pasta was spicy and not good. The salad was probably the best choice. This was one of the worst places we have been to. We will never go back.

good food poor service.
Fat city has a nice look about it and was very inviting. The drinks were pricey but overall the price was decent. We waited an hour to get our food because of a shortage in staff in the kitchen. The food was very good except they messed it up. I did not complain because I enjoyed my meal anyway.

Good service and ambience, food is a letdown.
The Fat City Bar and Grill's ambience is great, in this classic building with stained glass and high ceilings. Our server and service overall was excellent. The food is contemporary American fare with just average quality. Nothing is innovative and it tastes as if institutional shortcuts are being used. The food is hot enough and portions are quite generous however the food overall seems to be a letdown. Since this is in a touristy part of Sacramento, one can expect to pay above average prices.

This Old Town eatery welcomes guests with turn-of-the-century decor and hearty American fare..
In Short
Housed in a former Gold Rush general store, this tourist-friendly eatery has held onto its past with a restored 1870s bar, Victorian-era stained-glass windows and Tiffany-style lamps. Richly upholstered antique furniture and original brick walls enhance the historic ambience, while large windows provide views of the nearby riverfront. The menu is basic but substantial, offering such dishes as wild-mushroom ravioli, old-fashioned meat loaf and New York pepper steak.
