Do not risk ordering for a specail occasion.. I have been going to New Roma for years and every since new management has taken over the service is horrible. You never know what you're getting sometimes good cakes but not the one you ordered and sometimes not so good cakes. One thing you can always count on is a very awful customer experience. Not worth my time. Please please Do Not depend on them for a specail occasion the risk is yours.
scrumptious cakes but awful customer service!. New Roma bakery had one of the best tasting cakes I had ever eaten. We loved the end result, but getting there was an uphill battle for sure. We decided on New Roma bakery for our wedding cake maker and we put down our deposit. My husband and I are from out of town and they did not accomodate us whatsoever for a cake tasting. We could not make any of their Saturday morning tastings as we live 10 hours away, and we requested to taste another day...they refused. We even offered to buy individual cakes in the flavors we wanted to taste--and they said NO?! Needless to say, the cake turned out wonderfully, but the service was less than up to par.
Bride. New Roma Bakery for saved the day. The caterer for my wedding cancelled two weeks before my wedding. The food part was easy to cover, but I wanted an actual wedding cake. I was willing to pay almost any price with it being the last minute. All the popular bakeries were not able to help, but New Roma came though and worked within my budget for the cake I wanted.
If it's sweet you want, it's sweet you'll get at this legendary bakery in the heart of midtown..
The Scene
A delightful bouquet of sights and smells arouses your senses upon entering this small brick shop. In fact, if you live anywhere in the vicinity of 18th and E streets you can smell the sweet aromas wafting through the air, providing a path to baked-goods enlightenment.
The Food
The most delicious breads, cakes, cookies, donuts, sandwiches, pizza and pastries vie for space in display case. Choosing between the doughy delicacies presents a sticky situation for many wide-eyed patrons. Hot cross buns and fragrant jalapeno bread fresh from their baking vessels seduce many, and the mud pies and melt-in-your-mouth Texas donuts (big like everything else out of Texas) fly off the shelves and into the watering mouths of the hungry masses.
