Been to England. This is not even close to a pub..
I used to frequent this "so called" pub. It not bad if your looking for a bar with a bunch of college age kids. The staff is kind of on the rude side and I doubt any of them have been to England. The food is fair at best and is very Americanized!!! Burger and fries, salad, soup, sandwiches??? What the hell? Just because you have bangers and mash, fish and chips you can get at any restaurant and London in your name that doesn't make you a pub. First thing first, when I walk into a pub I want it to feel cozy and like home. This feels like a bar and no pub serves HARD liqueur. Second, I want "ENGLISH" beer and don't want it to be over priced! Wow... so you have Boddingtons and Guinness. Big deal!!! I'm just so feed up with this place. I don't want a Juke box at a pub either.
You want my recommendation.... go to Bonn's Lair on 36th and J. This is probably the most Authentic English Pub in Sacramento I've seen. I toured Europe with one of my bands back in 2000 so I know a good pub when I see one. Great selection on English beer like Maredsous, Bombardier, etc. Fish and chips are the best I've had and their prices rival anyone!!! Cheers!!!
Ridiculously rude bartenders. I've heard alot about this place, so, I took a group of 5 people there after a recent cocert at the Auditorium...could've gon eto alot of places, but chose SOL. Dressed nicely & waiting patiently at the bar with $60 bucks showing iin hand......a blonde bartender looked and walked by me 7 times serving people to either side of me.....one patron even yelled, "No, this guys is cool ans was wayyyy before me...why won't you serve him?"....she walked away and had another bartender chick (dark brown hair and HOT) take my simple 6 drink beer order. I asked, "whats up with that, I've NEVER been here before?"...she said, "not sure, she doesn't dig you..." WTF?! ....she even sasid, "you're a good lookin' dude too, I don't know....and gave me a beer on the house. I've never waited 12 mionutes for a beer order, nor, ever been snubbed, 86'd...nothing from a bar and I went to Chico State for 5 freakin years racking up all kinds of bar time......UNBELIEVABLY horrible service....bad part is, we went to another pub and I dropped $100+ in 2 hours that could've gone to S.O.L. ..your lose, I'll NEVER go back.
great comfort food.
Everything I?ve tried here has been great. The signature bangers and mash are a must try, along with an appetizer that consists of an hard boiled egg, wrapped in sausage, then deep fried. Heavenly heavy food.
Outdoor seating is available, a must if you or your friends are smokers. And there are vegetarian items on the menu that a veggy friend said were excellent.
Do, however, avoid on nights during the weekends, where the place becomes overly crowded with drinking college students. Lines for tables and bathrooms grow endless.
There's no parking lot so you'll have to park on the street somewhere.
Please do not go to the Streets of London Pub.
My family and I have just been kicked out of the Streets of London Pub.
They assumed one of our party was intoxicated.
The fact is he has Macular Degeneration. He is blind.
Even after we informed the owner of his error he still insisted on telling us to leave.
They have caused great humilation, embarrassment and pain to this person and this family.
This is not a simple matter of bad food or service. These are bad people and they should understand this is a line they should not cross. You can get over
their bad food and service, but being made to feel that because you have a disability you should not be there is wrong!
Home again. London born so I enjoy some food chips. I love mine with vinegar and salt. Yum. The chips are great the mushrooms are better, and the foozeball ain't half bad.
Streets of London is turning into my least favorite pub. QQ. I've been going to 'Streets' for many, many years. I was a hardcore patron and now rarely decide to come here. Ever since the introduction of 'hard' alcohol turned it from English pub to Sac State frathouse. It wasn't a instant change for the worse. But soon after most of the friendly waitresses was replaced with sweaty, unshowered tools. These new bartenders are so unclean it makes my skin crawl. Literally one guy mixed a bloody mary for me and practically submerged his fist into the glass. That is sick. And he looked like he just rolled outta bed. Bartenders should have some consideration for the people paying for adequite service to wash off last nights shag. On a high note the food is tasty if you love things of deepfried nature. Even the bullitproof bangers and mash are a thing of yesterday. I wish I had more things nice to say but I feel completely gutted.
Bitchy Bartenders. You people can't be serious. This place has a cool atmosphere, but the bartenders are freakin' horrible. I am a bartender myself so I'm a bit lenient. But come on, I shouldn't have to wait 10 minutes for 3 shots of Jameson with attitude. I came in with a group of restaurant industry people that tip well and we still felt like we were putting these bitches out. I may sound bitter, but I'm just talking about my own experience. We will not go back, even though we work nearby.
Beer selection and vibe are excellent. Avoid the food.. I enjoy a UK-style pub. This place has the decor and beer selection just fine, excellent even. The food is way off. The meal tasted like a microwaved-meal that was first freezer burned, then overcooked. Maybe just a bad day, but that meal made my top 10 of worst ever. Come for the UK-theme, stay for the beer, and leave for a meal elsewhere.
The scary french fries. Well, chips really. I actually went to Streets for the first time a month before I moved to the UK. Just checking out what I was in for. And while this place is great, and I didnt hear any ABBA at all while I was there ( I think I hear more of it over here with that new Madonna song sampling them). Anyway, what is up with the chips? They kinda look like pancakes and are rectangular. They tasted ok, but as a chip gourmet I wouldn't really want them again. Everything else was lovely, mind. And you all should go to Streets and appreciate a pseudo-trip to the UK...well minus the cloudy smokey bit of our pubs here (well, til march ends anyway) :P Cheers.
bagers and mash. Streets of London is the best. The bangers(sausages to non-anglophiles) and mashed potatoes w/peas is "to die for" and the fish and chips are pretty tasty, too. Great beer selection.excellent jukebox. Get there early for a good table. Also, you must order at the bar, but food is brought to your table. Sunday Night Trivia Quiz at 9 pm is really fun and challenging. Only con:frequent interruptions by other customers asking for your table when you leave....thought this only tends to happen on weekend nights.
