Worst Cajun Food on the West Coast. Poor service and food, very poor quality, the hot and spicy Shrimp, was watered down stewed tomatoes with ceyenne peppers, no cajun seasoning at all. I am a cajun chef, I learned to cook Cajun food in New Orleans. This restaurant is a horrible excuss for cajun food. The service is very slow, small portions, the gumbo was watery, with little or no taste, the shrimp were boiled in water with no shrimp or crab boil, with no flavor..They boast best shrimp you ever tasted, they were the worst this Cajun has ever tasted, So do not waste your time or money at this restaurant..Jerry Thornhill

Old Sacramento restaurant with Southern cuisine for those who aren't afraid to add spice to their life.. The Scene
The floor design makes intriguing use of space, cramming four levels of seating into one room. The cranked ceiling fans are creaky, but charming. With its calculated but copacetic decor and piped-in blues music, Hot & Spicy resembles a Disneyland version of a Big Easy eatery. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant and the food is four-alarm.

The Food
It's not called Hot & Spicy to be cute: The soup in the original Hot & Spicy shrimp is speckled with spices. Every Cajun dish--gumbo, jambalaya, etouffee--shows up on the menu. There's not much here for vegetarians, but for those who like their food blackened, barbecued or deep-fried, this is the place.
