Thought would be best, only to be let down – I went there for a pick up order. The place was packed with locals and there was music going-could be a fun environment. I had to walk through until I found the place to talk to the staff. I found them and it took only a couple minutes to get my pizza brought to be. I thought it would be bigger for the price. After I brought it home, both my wife and I have experienced far better pizza many, many other places. The location was good and the pizza was decent-but that is all. I will not go back- the staff seemed decent to me but because of previous reviews and their website I was expecting something like the, "Soup Nazi." --------Avoid and go to BJ'S in Natomas, hands down--------
Not your standard Pizza fare. – Most don't know what real Chicago deep dish pizza is. It shows on the reviews. If you want your regular "round table" style pizza, don't stop here. If you know and like Chicago pizza, it is one of the best on the west coast.
The place is a bar 1st, then a pizza place second. It is a dive.
Remember to phone in to tell them you're coming and order your pizza(s). Your wait will be shorter than the Squeeze Inn for sure.
Zalda has passed, but the pizzas are made the same way when Zelda was with us.
Easily the most interesting, quirky pizza place in Sac., and the only place for 90 miles to get authentic Chicago pizza.
Sit down, shut up, and eat the best pizza in the west. – If you aren't prepared for the Zelda's experience you might be a bit taken aback. Just walk in with patience and an open mind. Take it all in. Observe the retro stone walls and the dark lattice dividing wall with the christmas lights. Let the old timey italian posters sink in. Let the watresses give you a bit of sass and don't take anything personally. Think about all the history, all the stories that the walls of Zelda's would tell if they could speak. Remember that the staff is not there to hold your hand and stroke your ego, they're there to make you the best damned pizza you've ever had. And fully expect to exercise a lot the next day to burn off those calories!
Zelda's Pizza Sacramento.......Really Great Place to Eat and Awsome Food and Service!!! – I have been wanting to go to Zeldas Pizza for a long time but after reading all of these bad, inaccurate reviews here I was almost afraid to go. I finally went last night with my wife and we had a very nice dining experience! The Pizza and the service was awesome! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone! Thank You Zeldas!....................G & M West, Somerset, Ca.
AWFUL FOOD AND TERRIBLE SERVICE – I tried to like this place because ambiance is important to me, and Zelda's is old school woodsy and dark. But that's the ONLY thing Zelda's has going for it. I tried again and again because I've found that places and people that can seem offensive in the beginning often wind up being your favorites. Zelda's is the exception, as it's progressively disappointing every time. They pride themselves on having some of the worst service in town (just check their website) and the pizza is so NOT GOOD. The crust is supposed to be the big draw (I can't imagine what else could be) and it's saturated with butter and flaky and just bad. If you're looking for bad food, awful service and an annoyingly long wait for no apparent reason, then come here by all means. Other wise, stick with places with GOOD reviews, and maybe, I dunno, a HOSTESS.
A Sacramento CLassic – Zelda's is a Sacramento Institution...and it's hard to explain why, but it just is. I can;t even eat pizza (allergic to dairy) but I go in there just to smell it. And to check out all the hot pizza babes that work there.
Customer service drove me away. – I have tried Zelda's 3 different times. The first time I just stopped in and the wait was incredibly long. It took over an hour to get our pizza, and the service was horrible. If you wanted anything you had to get ahold of the server. The second time I tried, we called in to pick up the pizza, and arrived at the time they said and the doors were locked. We had to knock on the door for quite a while before getting our pizza. The third time, we called ahead of time so that the pie would be ready when we arrived. When we came in at the time they specified, it took 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge that we were there (and it was not that busy), then they seated us and it took another 25-30 minutes before the pie was ready. Again the service was horrible, and we had to chase down a server to get our pie, as well as our check. Though the pizza is okay, I will not eat at Zelda's again. Considering I am frustrated enough to do a review (and this is my first review ever!!!), should let you know how dissatisfied I was.
Great Pizza - fun place – I really like their deep dish pizza here. The crust is tasty. We went as a group and had a fun time. We waited a the bar for a while before being seated, but that gave us time to visit. By the time we sat down our pizza was ready. We took home a lot of leftovers. It was good the next day too.
Go to Dante's California Style Pizza in Stockton instead – If all you people want the best pizza in northern California dont go to Sac or Zeldas go to Stockton California and look up Dante's California style pizza. I have been eating there for 20 years and you can get pizza or steaks or pastas or sandwiches. The dough is great! The sause is great! The pizza is the best if you dont like it I'll pay you back!
