Hotels >Riverboat Delta King
we are going back again!. My wife and I stayed on the Delta King for 4 nights. My friends daughter that I had known since she was a little girl was getting married on the boat on a Sunday and we checked in on the friday before the wedding with most of the wedding Party. That friday we went to the Murder Mestery Dinner on the boat and had a great time. While the rooms are small, the charm and history of the boat made you forget all of that. If you want to have all of the ammenities of a 5 star hotel, this is not the place for you, but if you want to have a good time and take in the history of the Delta King and old town Sacramento which is right across the street, then by all means this is the place for you. The staff was friendly and helpfull, and the breakfest in the Captains Room was very good and at resonable prices. The boat was restored after sinking and being raised. It was originally used as a comutter ship from Sacramento to San Francisco and back (a twelve hour trip each way) so the rooms were no set up like a cruise ship. Being a carpenter and having restored wood boats in the past, this was a great experience for me checking out all of exceptional wood restoration that the ship has to offer. When my wife and I had breakfest one morning, overlooking the Sacramento river in the dining room, it was as though we had taken a step back in history. After having read some of the negative reviews, I just think that there are some people that will never be happy and look at what is wrong rather then taking in the charm of the bigger picture. Just my thoughts on the subject. We are going back again with some friends, however we are going to reserve the 2 bedroom suite. If you can stay mid-week the rates are cheaper, but the rates that were qoated when we stayed, unlike some of the other reviewers statements, were the rates that we were charged. Have fun, enjoy life, and complaine less, you will be a lot happier.
I will stay here often. Just awsome. Great customer service, public relations and service. They have a wonderful crew and awsome Delta King. Thank You, I will stay here often.- Todd
nice people. Great place to stay nice people , good food & quiet!
excellent location. Excellent location, perfect, had a very comfy stay here
Poor Customer Service, Non-responsive Management. Unfortunately my second stay with this hotel was not as good an experience as I had 3 years ago when I stayed there. I was double charged for my room and management was not responsive. When I arrived at check-in I was told they could not find my reservation but they had a room so it was not a problem. I told the clerk at that point that I had AAA and what the rate was quoted. He assured me that they would honor that so I took the room (They gave us the room right in the Lobby hallway, lots of lobby noise throughout the evening.) Upon check out I had been charged the standard rate not the AAA discount I had reserved originally - the clerk at that time did give me the 10% AAA discount but that was still $20 higher than I had reserved the room for originally. I didn't have time to argue so I paid it. In a few weeks I checked my credit card statements to find that not only was I charged upon check-out but I had also been charged for my original reservation as if I was a No-Show. Unfortunately at check-out I paid with a different credit card than my original reservation, which was completely confusing to the Accounting Clerk I called to speak to. After no luck with her I emailed the Manager - he also could not comprehend that I had been charged on 2 different credit cards and requested I send him both statements. I did as he requested and never heard from him again after 3 additional emails and 2 phone calls to him asking for resolution. I finally gave up and sent all the correspondence I had with the hotel over to the Credit Card company and they removed the "no show" charge from my account. I would not recommend this hotel, not due to the mix up on the overcharge because these things happen sometimes but, due to the fact that the Management never had the courtesy to follow up on the matter.
Nice hotel, awful guest services.
Recently my daughter and I stayed at the Delta King. We were on the City View side of the boat. This was a special trip for my daughter's birthday and included a stay on the Delta King. My husband and I have stayed there a number of times before and it has always been a great experience. This time was quite another story.
We returned to the hotel around 7 p.m. and spent an hour or so sitting on the deck watching the boats go by. Around 8:30 we returned to our room for an evening of relaxation and some television. Unfortunately, the evening was anything but relaxing.
At nearly 9:30 a DJ began to play so loud outside our room that it sounded like we were in the bar. I called the front desk and the clerk told me they would be playing until 10:30 p.m. for a high school reunion. The DJ was evidently on the platform next to the boat, just outside our room. The music was so loud that we could not hear the television in the room, even with the sound turned all the way up. As a result, we listened to a LOUD selection of music from the 1980's all evening. We couldn't go to sleep, watch television or anything else with the music booming into the room.
At 10:30 p.m. when the music DIDN'T stop, I once again called the front desk. The clerk said she would contact the manager. She called back to say the manager said the group had a contract until 11 p.m. and wouldn't be shutting down until that time.
I certainly hope the Dixon High School Class of 1986 generated a great deal of income for the hotel because it was quite clear that they were far more important to Delta King management than were their guests for the evening.
I spoke to the people at the front desk when we checked out, and contacted the general manager, assistant manager and hotel manager immediately after my stay. I received no response from any of them.
There is a lovely Embassy Suites just a block away. I would recommend staying there rather than on the Delta King.
Spend the night floating on this historic, renovated steamboat..
Once a riverboat shuttling passengers between San Francisco and Sacramento, this floating hotel is now permanently docked in Sacramento as one of the city's more nostalgic hotels. Like the Delta Queen, its sister hotel moored on the Mississippi River, an onboard stay conjures images of Mark Twain and the romance of the Wild West. The deck-level Pilothouse restaurant offers excellent outdoor dining, and a complimentary continental breakfast is included in the hotel's price.
The 44 larger-than-average State Rooms are furnished with a queen bed and a small sitting area with wicker tables and chairs. Also available is The Captain's Quarters, an enormous suite surrounded by full-sized windows, elegant mahogany paneling and built-in cabinetry. The Captain's furniture is similarly impressive with luxurious overstuffed sofas and chairs.
We were at the Delta King last weekend for our company christmas party and everything was perfect. It was the best company party I have ever been to. The outside of the boat is decorated for the holidays with garland and red bows and the hotel and banquet rooms are very festive.
The rooms are so cute! There was a turndown service with romantic lighting and chocolates. I can recommend the Delta King without hesitation.
