What People Are Saying About Stoney Inn / Rockin' Rodeo

The Scene – No longer nicknamed "Stoner Inn" as it was in the '70s, the Stoney now boasts an eclectic array of local bands, heavy on blues and lighter on the alt-rock, from Thursday through Sunday, when local legends the Beer Dawgs jam as the house band to end the weekend right. Customers range in age from teens (allowed while food is served) to people in their 60s, with most falling in the middle-aged range. Bikers are definitely welcome (the Fryed Bros. played here), but retirees and state workers belly up to the bar next to those leather chaps and jackets. You can even smoke out on…

Great place for music and dancing

by stoneyinnlover

The Stoney Inn is a great place in a prime location. The major misconception is that the Stoney Inn, because it is on the Boulevard, is in the Heights but it is actually in the Woodlake neighborhood surrounded by Enotria, a vintage ice rink, good restaurants, and art galleries. The bar itself appears fairly small from the outside. When you walk in, you continue to think that this is a very small dive bar. But then there's the back room, it consists of a restaraunt, many tables, and a big dance floor. Depending on what night you go, you can line dance, salsa dance, west coast swing or just chill and relax with some good food, live music with bands or karaoke which happens every night at 9pm regardless of what is going on in the back. The bartenders are so friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I met the owners the first time I walked into the place and they were very accommodating and friendly. And I hear that Kevin is a very accomplished two stepper. Personally, I love singing karaoke and I am a big fan of good karaoke places. I have since been a frequent visitor the Stoney Inn on almost every night and I found out that they have four different karaoke dj's with contrasting styles. There is one guy I like in particular, I'm not sure what night he is there, but he sings country and various other styles and is very good. He also is a very nice person and makes people feel welcome. Every one of the karaoke dj's are nice, but he is especially nice and is consistently cool to me. If someone knows his name, let me know, but I think it's Gerald. The food is awesome, and recently when I was there on a Tuesday, I bought $1 tacos. They also have a weekly karaoke contest where I hear that at the end of the year you win $1000. I feel very welcome here even though I don't necessarily fit the stereotype of someone who would usually go to a "country" bar which most nights it actually isn't. I find that when I come on Monday, I can sing as much as I want because apparently this place is still the best kept secret in Sacramento. I can't dance but I have been learning from the coolest dancing instructor on Friday nights. She is so nice and is a good instructor. I feel so comfortable and safe every time I go here and not only would I say this is the best bar I've been to in Sacramento, but out of everywhere I've lived, this is the best bar I've been to in the country. Get out here, people. This place rocks and not many people know this.

  • Pros: Best atmosphere in town, Karaoke 7 nights a week
  • Cons: That there aren't more people frequenting this place.

WON'T BE COMING BACK! HORRIBLE BARTENDERS!

by IgnoredCustomer

I used to come to stoney inn ALL THE TIME! I started coming back in the last few months, and it had been great. Until recently a few times I was treated very disrespectfully! There is a female blond bartender that was working the front bar one night I was there.. She was VERY RUDE, ON HER CELL PHONE! IGNORED ME FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUTES, THE WHEN SHE FINALLY GOT MY DRINK ORDER SHE ACTED AS IF I WAS AN INCONVENIENCE! She wasn't even busy! she only had a couple customers! Then I asked if her manager knows how she treats his customers, and she went on to tell me "That jack-as* doesn't have anything to do with how I run MY bar" I wonder if he would appreciate that?! My friends and I were shocked at the non-professional way she acted behind the bar! We left and went to the "back bar" We weren't treated much different there! the brown haired young girl that was bartending was VERY RUDE! she was too busy letting guys oogle over her to get us girls a drink! after I had ordered she even served a man that had come up after us first!... maybe if I would have slipped her a 5 in her back pocket and told her how cute she was, I would have gotten a drink in a timely fashion too! we let this go and give Good Old Stoney another chance.... and sure enough... the blond gal was at the front again.... she must not have been a bartender for very long, her attitude and knowledge of drinks were equally Horrible! My friends and I wanted very badly to make Stoney a place for us to frequent again... But after seeing the type of rude and frankly terrible bartenders they've been having behind the bar.... I dont think thats going to happen... I can only hope if we find ourselves in there again we WON'T SEE EITHER OF THOSE TWO GIRLS AGAIN!

HOPEFULLY THE MANAGEMENT WILL GET THEIR HEADS OUT OF YOU KNOW WHERE AND WISE UP AND GET SOME BARTENDERS THAT DON'T ACT LIKE THEY ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL, AND ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO MIX A DRINK! (AND I DON'T JUST MEAN A RED-BULL AND VODKA KIDS!)

  • Pros: USED TO BE A FRIENDLY PLACE TO GO
  • Cons: BARTENDERS ARE BRATTY LITTLE GIRLS

Best place to sit back, enjoy yourself and meet new people

by singingJ1

I found that if you want a place where you can feel safe and still have a good time you must go to the Stoney Inn. The owners are two brothers Greg and Kevin who are friendly and inviting. The front DJ Bryan with a Y is up beat and boy can he let out the singer in anyone when he bust out the Kareoke. Melissa is a great Bartender who makes a Margarita to die for. Not to mention the Country line dancing is a hoot to watch and if you ever feel like taking lessons you should come right on over. Oare in the door you are madeike Family and that is why I will continue to support my local HOT spot

  • Pros: Come on in you will see what words cannot discribe
  • Cons: Needs bigger bathrooms
