Made my daughter's day special
by Trail Gal
My daughter's dress was amazing - very different and unique. Our consultant Mahin was the best - she knew what would look good, and what we should avoid. My daughter even changed her mind and Mahin couldn't have been more gracious.
Since my daughter is petite, we needed quite a bit of alterations to shorten the dress. No only were the alterations done on time, the dress fit her perfectly!
This was a great experience, and I highly recommend House of Fashion.
- Pros: Great choice of dresses, excellent alterations
I Gave Them a Second Chance...
by 100210bride
...and they stepped it up. When I went for my first visit, I left wanting to cry. It was a Thursday afternoon, and there was nobody in the shop, but I waited for 45 MINUTES PAST MY APPOINTMENT TIME before my consultant finally came to help me. I had to go to the front desk twice durin that time to inquire if someone was ready for me, and BOTH times they said "Oh, you haven't been helped?" Seriously?! Of course I haven't been helped! If I were being helped I would be upstairs in a big white dress!! So when I finally met with my consultant, who I shall not name as I hate to throw individuals under the bus but not entire companies, she took me upstairs and showed me to my room. She held out her hand and said "Pictures?" I said I didn't have any and she sighed, looking irritated. As she started to walk away to pull dresses I was trying to describe what I wanted, but she wasn't listening. She brought back a few dresses that were nice, but not what I had asked for. In her defense, she did pull about 10 dresses for me to try, but I was only allowed to spend about 30 seconds in each one before she said "Ok, ready for the next one?" I barely got a look, but none of them really caught my eye, so I guess that was fine. When we went through all those she asked which 3 I would like to add to my card, to which I said "Well, I didn't really like any of those, are there any different ones I can try?" She replied that she had brought all that fit my description and that were in my price range, and that I should just narrow it to 3. So I just chose three at random so I could get the hell outta there, never intending to return.
But then I did...On a Monday early afternoon. I got right in with my consultant, Mahin, and she took me right up. This time I had come with very a very specific style in mind, and wasn't going to stray from that. She asked me what I like, and I started to say as she looked me up and down. I stopped midsentence because I could tell she was going to say something. "V-neck with a mermaid skirt would be perfect for you." THAT WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GOING TO ASK FOR!!! I had tried on that shape at another salon and it is perfect for my body. She nailed it! She proceed to take me to the dresses and asked me about each one as she pulled it, and was very respectful of my price range. Each dress she brought was beautiful on, but there were two in particular that were great, and the best one was the very first one that I tried on. She let me stand there and stare as long as I wanted, and he assistant took TONS of pictures from different angles for me. She even suggested I put on the first one again because it was my favorite. We have it narrowed down to 2, but we both love the first one I tried, and it just happens to be the least expensive of all that I tried on, $1000 UNDER my price range! I felt like Mahin was genuinely out to find me a beautiful dress that I could afford, and not just looking to find one at the top end of my budget. She understands how a dress should look, and takes into account your size and shape, not just the hottest trends. I am very happy that I gave HOF a second chance, and even happier that I found Mahin! I set up my second appointment with her to go with my bridesmaids, and I can't wait to show them the dresses we found.
I would say not to let the other reviews keep you from at least trying this place out. If you get a bad vibe, go with it. Your gut is usually right. But I gave them another shot and ended up finding two amazing dresses, and getting fantastic service. I guess the second time is the charm!
- Pros: selection
- Cons: service
Poor service, rude employees, do not go there
by htt
I went there to look for my bridal gown, and the sales lady first greeted me in a very nice and sweet voice until she looked at me from top to bottom. Immediate she took me to a room full of dresses on the second floor, and told me to look through the dresses myself. I told her I was looking for a specific style, but she told me to look for it myself. Of course with so many dresses in the room, I didn't know where to start. I asked her if she had my size in stock and she she told me "there's one, but it's $1600, can you afford it"? I felt very insulted. Then she told me "I don't think there's any thing here for you". She then took me down to look at bridemaids dresses, and told me again to go through the dresses myself. Of course, at that point, I just walked out of the place. I would think that if you pay so much for a dress, you would receive some service. This lady did not provide any service, but was extremely rude to me. She judged me the minute she saw me and assumed I could not afford anything in the store. I would not go back there again.
