An old hangout that I thought was gone!!. I used to hang out at the Fifth String in the early '80.s I took flatpicking from John Green. I think his bluegrass sensibilities were put off by the jumbo Guild I had. So, I bought a 73 D-45. I remember the look on his face when he saw the D-45. I'm sure he was thinking, " Now there's an example of way too much guitar for that guy!!" Someone told me that the Fifth String burned and was no longer in business. Boy am I glad you're still there!!!

Unplugged and proud.. The Scene
An acoustic player's paradise. All kinds of stringed instruments at all kinds of prices hang from the walls. Of course there are guitars (lap, bass, six- and twelve-string, big and little), but you'll also find a good selection of mandolins, banjos, even zithers. The employees are all really laid back and don't mind if you borrow a pick and spend an hour or so handling the merchandise.
Thursday night is jam night, so, if you think you can hold your own, show up and give it a whirl.

Gotta have It
The Martin six-string with the string bender. It made us giddy.
