Loved the service and the drinks. The bartenders were very polite and fast making the drinks. I went there with some friends to go dancing and hang out. I loved that they had an outdoor area that was a little more low key with some nice tables and an outdoor bar. I honestly had no complaints about finding seat like some of the other reviews. I might have just gotten lucky, but I found enough seats for our huge group of friends as soon as we got in. There were two bartenders that were exceptional with there service and there drinks. The first was named josh, he was working at the bar inside; and the other , named camille, was manning the outdoor bar. They both gave great drink suggestions and there friendly attitude made me feel great for choosing to go to harlows that night. I had a great time with my friends here and will be going back . I unfortunately lost my keys that night and the staff at harlows were extremely helpful in helping me look for my keys. I didnt find them, sadly, but I was great that the whole staff helped me look for them. I just wanted to share my wonderful experience at harlows hoping it will bring more people in to this great place.
A good time all the time. My wife and I have been to Harlow's half a dozen times to see bands we like and it's been enjoyable every time. We've never encountered rude staff or weak drinks or any of the complaints I've read about here--makes me wonder about the other side of the story. It is important to know what the entertainment is on a given night, if you're into classic rock or Americana roots music then you probably won't enjoy the nights when they have a DJ playing mating ritual music for people half your age. The closest I can come to a complaint is sometimes the PA is cranked up too loud. But we always look forward to going back and seeing a great concert at close range for a reasonable price; Harlow's is a place we recommend.
Untrustworthy Staff. I went there for a live band performance on 12/18/09 and opened a tab for my drinks using a Visa Gift Card. Conveniently they could never find my card after that. I asked the staff and no one knew where it was, which is unfortunate because it had $40 on it.
A night from Hell.
December 19, 2009 - a night from hell. I have visited Harlows for as long as I can remember, and have always raved about how much fun I had at this establishment. I have brought many friends to Harlows and I have recommended this place many times.
Saturday December 19, 2009 was my last visit to Harlows. A total of 8 people in my group arrived at approximately 9PM, and we were having fun. We got some pretty good seats, directly in front of the dance floor on a nice couch with chairs around us. At around 11:30, a waitress came over to our place that we had been seated for more than two hours, and told us that we had to move because they had overbooked the VIP section and that they were going to put some people in our spot. We really didn't want to move, but we were told that we would have to pay $50.00 if we wanted to stay. Pay $50 to stay in seats that we were already sitting at? FOR REAL PEOPLE? quickly, two very large bouncers came over to extracate us from the premises... WOW, what the heck happened to CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE? Needles to say, I will NEVER set foot in that establishment again... Unfortunate too, I really liked this place. The owner came over to talk to the bouncer, and since i had met him before, I expressed my disconcern with their poor judgement in evicting us - he just justified their actions. Paying the $50 would not have found a seat for the people that were displacing us!!!! Where is the reasoning...
My personal opinion, avoid this place at all costs...
Nice Bar/Lounge. I love Harlows, very nice friendly people, not trashy, mature 30+ crowd, if you love to listen to tunes or dance your butt off this is the place to be.
Good music. They have some great bands here...stay tuned.
Fun time, great people watching. My boyfriend and I got there early, right after dinner. It was probably 10pm. At first NO one was there, which was fabulous because it gave us time to find the best seat ever, a big leather chair that fit both of us. We sat there all night, mind you we smoked in shifts to keep it, because it did get crowded. I had 2 drinks at dinner, then a long island, an a Sambuca there. The long island was STRONG!!!! But maybe that's because I know how to act and most especially HOW TO TALK TO BARTENDERS! The cover was only $12 a person, my boyfriend's Martini and my Long Island came up to just $16, which is nothing, for two alcohol loaded drinks for under $20, you'd have to be so cheap and tight you squeak when you walk to not appreciate that. The music was ok, good 80s music at first, then some not so good hip hop something that just sounded awful, but we weren't there to listen to the band, we were there to drink, hang out, and laugh at all the white people that simply can't dance although they think they do it well. A drunk girl fell in my lap, it was hilarious! The bouncers were so awesome and helpful. Everyone says this place is so awful, I just think pretentious people shouldn't come out. PERIOD! Oh one bad thing, there were a few pregnant chicks, tons of ugly ones, and tons of ugly guys. On the upside, I wasn't there to scam anyway. It's a fun place, I'll be going back.
Harlow's A JOKE! Not even ONE Star!. I've dealt with it before but now I had to finally write about it. If Harlow's want to continue to be one of the upscale joints in Sacramento they need to start getting a clue on what they advertise and how to take care of their patrons. Harlow's is notorious for falsly advertising the start time of shows. On going to the latest show on Friday February 15, a local band Sol Peligro was advertised with a start time of 9:00 pm. They were the opening act to be followed by Grupo Fantasma with a scheduled start time of 10:00. OK not a problem, get their at 8:30 to get a good seat and buy a couple of watered down Long Islands for 15 bucks plus $3 tip not to mention the $30 cover. $48 dollars out of pocket starts the evening. 9 o'clock rolls around, no Sol Peligro, 9:15 nothing, 9:30, nothing 10 pm NOTHING, finally about 10:15 they take the stage and do a 45 minute set. Now it's eleven and Sol Peligro has to break down their equipment to let the healiners Grupo Fantasma set up. I admit they set up in a fairly quick half hour and finally take the stage at 11:30. A whole hour and a half after the advertised start time. Now If you are one of the sheep that go to Harlow's just to be seen then you probably will put up with however they run the establishment. BUT if you are there to catch a show then you expect to get what you pay for and start times matter! Then our group witness one of the wait-staff almost physically pull people off of chairs that were brought in from the patio area because "THOSE ARE PATIO CHAIRS NOT CLUB CHAIRS". There is just not enough table space since they try to pack the place to standing room only. These patrons were thoroughly embarresed and did not have to be treated that way. NOT good business sense! Harlow's has definately lost some patrons that will definately take their business elsewhere. Remember the patrons that you are mistreating are the ones that are keeping you in business, until they get a clue!
Harlow's Get a Heart. My friend went there and had an unfortunate accident which left her ankle with a broken bone Her husband asked the bartender to call for an ambulance (they have health insurance). The bartender said he was not authorized for that....glad it wasn't a heart attack... someone called one for them. While they waited, the manager kept on saying loudly how there was no liquid on the floor....caring more for their liability than the pain my friend was in. Harlows...get a heart. This was all handled through my friends health insurance but not how Harlow's acted...
Fun Place to See a Live Show!. Great live music and atmosphere. Here whether you just want to get out or go specifically for a certain act, harlow's is a lot of fun!
