I am in FOOD HEAVEN!. Tapa the World is my favorite midtown cafe/bar!!! The service is always great- very inviting, thorough, and knowledgeable. The food is scrumptious! You Must order the Mushrooms, rock shrimp, grilled veggies, Kobe Beef, mussles and the del sol salad!! Every dish I've tried has been awesome, so you can't go wrong!! If it's paella you crave, go on Monday nights for $5 off! I love thier fresh mint lemonade, so refreshing! They have live guitar music everynite and if you're lucky, you can catch a bellydance show at the restaurant next door! (the kasbah lounge). I've been here on weekend nights and it gets really busy and loud, make a reservation if you're a large group, or better yet go on a Sunday or Monday- much more low key. Also don't forget to end your meal with their homemade fruit empanadas stuffed with seasonal fruit and served with ice cream and caramel....DELICIOUS! The best part is, they are open til midnight, seven days a week!!
Terrible Service Seems to be the Theme. We stopped in before the Dinner crowd arrived. There were no more than 3 tables when we got there and no more than 6 tables when we left. BUT..... Our Service still SUCKED. The servers there are barely amateur. Our server was leaning across the bar as she talked to customers. Her words were "Oh, you guys are over there." pointing to the sister restaurant next door. Real professional. I had to flag our waitress down and she never actually saw me out of the corner of her eye even though I was sitting near the window in front and everyone could see me waving. The bar tender finally got her to come over and I gestured to my wife who was wanting a salad. I wanted a Lemonade, but she said "Sure" to my wife's request and walked off without asking if I needed anything and without even looking at me. I will not ever go back. The food was far from Terrible and really far from Great. It was.... Food. The prices are ridiculous for the mediocre quality food. Let's review.... The Service SUCKED.
Best atmosphere. I love this place!! The food is amazing! The atmosphere is perfect. I love the guitar player. Try the Chile Rellenos!! Great wine selection.
Judge the Book by its Cover. Sometimes it pays to judge a book by its cover. The Kasbah is decorated in rich Moroccan hues and textiles. There are so many gorgeous details a person can spend the entire night reveling in the interior design. Judging the Kasbah by its attention to visual delight alone gives it a strong 4 stars. But what happened when my food and drinks arrived? I was pleasantly surprised to find every part of my experience at the Kasbah was consistent. Our server knew the menu very well and made excellent recommendations tailored to each guest's tastes and preferences. My friends and I ordered several plates of food to share so we could try as many flavors as possible. The food was fresh and each dish was savory and delicious, but never too overpowering. If I must pick one thing about the Kasbah that stands out above all, it would be the drinks. While the Kasbah is known for its Caipirinhas, Habibis, and Mojitos give the bartender a break from muddling and order a Bocci Ball. Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the Kasbah and will certainly keep going back.
Such an awesome experience!. This place was WAY way WAY beyond my expectations! My boyfriend and I were just hungry and decided to go here because it was close to a bar we wanted to go to and it looked cool on their website. The ambiance is fabulous! We selected a nice little corner in the couch area, nice nook with pillows and such. Very comfy. The food was great and the waitress recommended a beverage (alcoholic), that was absolutely wonderful! The food was amazingly well made. Just a cute romantic place! Loved it and will be going back time and time again. Also, the prices are really moderate. Check it out, don't be snobby about it, just go and relax, have a good time and don't worry about what the others are saying! PLUS! there are dancers!!! Belly dancing, which is fabulous! and hookahs too!
Good late evening experience.
Arrived after 9, mid-week. Live music- Spanish guitarist playing wonderful mood music, at a level where a I could still talk with my wife. There's a lively and interesting wine list; we started with sangrias and then had a couple of glasses of California wines.
Our appetizer plate was a combination and a meal of its' own. We enjoyed vegatarian and meat tapas.
The service was real good; two serve people and a bus person kept everthing flowing.
Horrible Customer Service. The service was horrible at the Kasbah Lounge. We called ahead to find out what time they were closing and the woman said 3am. When we got there we wanted to sit and smoke the hookah and eat dinner. She told us that they were closing at Midnight and could not smoke but could eat. She was so pushy trying to get everyone out the door. While we were eating we watched at least 10 people come in expecting to eat or smoke and they were turned away. We left the restaurant at 1230am... and watched a group of the bartender's friends come in and have drinks while she and another waitress took shots behind the bar. The food was good... but, the service definately made it my last visit there. Businesses should honor their advertised closing times.. expecially when customer's call ahead to find out when they are closing. Horrible service.. not worth the drive there.. will definately search for a better hookah lounge next time we're in the area.
Excellent place for Sunday lunch. Great food, great customer service. Wheelchair access restroom.. The mint tea is excellent and so is the food. My husband and I have eaten six good meals, chosing something new each time. We will return for more!
Tapa the food chain!!!. I was looking for a unique place to take my friend from out of town and since I am new to Sacramento I didn?t have the slightest idea of where to take them. When I asked around I was told to check out Tapa the world. I took my friend there on a Saturday night. Of course they were super slammed but I saw that as a testament to how good the food was going to be and I was right. We shared a pitcher of Sangria and I had one of the best salads ever. My friend was in love with the bread and dipping sauce. After sharing a few different Tapas we agreed that we would have to come back next time she?s in town. The only thing that was a little annoying was how slow the service was but we weren?t in a hurry so it wasn?t a big deal. I would definitely recommend Tapas to my friends who are looking for a yummy unique alternative to those darn chains that keep popping up everywhere.
Don't bother. I was excited to try this place out last week but was very disappointed. The service was extremely slow. The paella was TERRIBLE. The Kobe beef was also not very good quality. If you are looking for good food and authentic Spanish cuisine, Tapa the World is definitely NOT the place to go.
