The Scene – With a dining room torn between art deco and art nouveau, Paragary's is well-known for its stylized ambience. A painted raised ceiling, slanted mirrors and large, plant-filled windows help open the space up for great people-watching. Though a corporate crowd comes to schmooze, the clientele is primarily repeat customers who have been coming back since the 1983 opening. – – The Food – It pioneered wood-fired gourmet pizza in Sacramento. Masterful pies, like the rosemary chicken or Italian sausage, demand to be eaten slowly with a knife and fork so you can…

Great Atmosphere, Everything else falls short
by moneybroker at Citysearch
There was a great amount of time and thought spent creating the beautiful environment at this restaurant. The menu is quite ecclectic and yummily concoctions adorn its pages, but I will have to stop there. The restaurant is over-seating their customers ( the asst. manager told me this was why our food took so long to arrive), and they do not have the kitchen space to execute the amount of orders they are taking in order to deliver the food in a timely manner. Also, our green beans had sat waiting so long they turned to yellow strings of mush. The worst part was when we asked after waiting over 45 min for our appetizers to come out--- we asked to speak with the manager and she couldn't have cared less. She said the afore mentioned b.s. about seating too many tables and having a tiny kitchen. UM, HELLO, dont seat so many people all at once then. Three tables around us were feeling the same disappointment. We shared some of our apps. Nice people go there. BUT they probably won't continue for too much longer. Who could blame them... I hear Paragary's owns part of Midtown and has bars and eateries all over. Oh, No, I am very afraid.
- Pros: Great decor, and Menu
- Cons: Poor service, quality, and management
Great food with a lovely outdoor setting
by lifeisabyway at Citysearch
I went here for a day-late mother?s day dinner with my parents and my boyfriend. Our waiter was really on top of things and friendly. The atmosphere was relaxing, and the waterfalls did a great job with noise cancelation. We shared three appetizers; my favorite was the warm herbed goat cheese with pistachios, roasted pears, and red wine syrup, with crostini, though all were good. Other favorites from my party's selections were the Nappa cabbage salad with chicken, cashews, and a Chinese black bean vinaigrette. My salmon was cooked to perfection and I loved the polenta it was served with. My mom raved about her lamb. We shared deserts; the Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp and the Apple Crostada were both presented well, though you would never know looking on, because as soon as they appeared they were gone. The bill was not cheap, but the food and atmosphere were worth it, and we took food home. I think we could have eaten for half the cost and not gone away hungry if there weren't so many good looking things on the menu we just had to try. I wasn?t so hot on the mushrooms with Jarlsberg cheese, it was a little heavy on the lemon for my tastes, and the valet parking wasn?t exactly secure (he left our car running with the key in it and the key locker unlocked and open while he fetched another customers car).
- Pros: Ambience
- Cons: Parking
Good food and nice surroundings, but get there early
by nw_traveller at Citysearch
I agree that the outdoor patio makes for a nice dining experience, but get there early to get an outdoor table. Our first experience we had a 6:00pm reservation, but all outside dining was full. Our next experience, we arrived at 5:00pm and were seated outside. The sound of the outdoor waterfall enhances that romantic moment.
If you are watching your budget, I would suggest sharing a pizza. It is plenty for a couple and maybe allows for a couple glasses of wine within your budget.
Don't settle for indoors if the weather's nice

We went to Paragary's for dinner last night and were very impressed. There was a wait to sit outside on the patio, but we were able to sit at the outdoor bar and order drinks and an appetizer while we waited. The patio is closed off from the street and much of the traffic noise is drowned out by the three waterfalls. The setting is also very unique, the courtyard that the outdoor seating is in has three Russian olive trees adorned in white lights. The corner of the courtyard is a large stone fireplace for crisp evenings and the walls are covered in flowering vines. The food was delicious, large-portioned and very reasonably priced. Our waitress was also very courteous and prompt.
If you feel like a cocktail, try the basil-lime gimlet. Weird sounding combination, but one of the best drinks I've had!
- Pros: Excellent outdoor area, prompt and friendly service, good food
- Cons: Indoor seating wasn't as nice
