Very disappointing evening.... Party of six, Sat 7PM. Noone offered to seat us until we roamed aimlessly around the restaurant until snagging a passing server--sat at the bar to wait for our table to be prepared. No one told us our table was ready, even as other members of our party began arriving and standing at the bar while staff members chatted and hung around. Service continued to be dissapointing-- empty glasses, finished plates, very little checking in even with the restaurant only about half full. Steak was terrific, and the fish with berries (a special), unfortunately the rest of our party was unimpressed with the food. Don't recommend the mushroom ravioli, the chopped salad, or the cobbler. Won't be back.
User review by lima19152. My husband and I drive from Modesto to enjoy breakfast at this restaurant. Typically we arrive shortly after the AM opening, are treated to courteous and timely service, and relish the impeccably prepared meal, accompanied by the pugliesi toast. We have never had a complaint of any kind. In fact, we postpone until our arrival even a cup of coffee on those much anticipated mornings when we treat ourselves to breakfast at the 33rd Street Bistro.
Great food, not so great service. The food here is terrific and the restaurant definitely has that neighborhood café feel. Unfortunately, I was disappointed the last two times I was there. The first was a Sunday morning, around 9:30AM- when we put our names in the hostess said it would be about a 40 minute await. We were seated an hour and a half later. Then we were there on a Wednesday night and we were seated in about 40 miuntes, but someone in our party didn't get his food until the rest of us were finished eating- that's not good at all. :( Sad to say I might not go back.
Satisfy the hedonist within with chocolate martinis, saucy pastas and time-tested comfort foods at this East Sac bistro..
The Scene
It's the quintessential neighborhood restaurant. Everyone who frequents this spot has a favorite item, and there would be an uprising in Sacramento if the menu ever completely changed. Brunch is particularly popular, so arrive early before the hungry crowds descend.
The Food
A potpourri of exotic and sensual selections such as coconut prawns with orange-mustard vinaigrette and jerk ribs are interspersed with comfort foods like meatloaf and roasted chicken ravioli. For breakfast, luscious berry griddlecakes loaded with fruit start any day perfectly. The delicious Oregon blue cheese salad--spicy, boneless Buffalo chicken, toasted walnuts and crumbled blue cheese atop crisp romaine lettuce--is a meal in itself. While both the grilled salmon and caper aioli of the Columbian panini are delicious on their own, the flavors don't quite work together. For a stunning finale, the delectable chocolate paté is the only way to end the meal.
Fantastic. 33rd Street is great. Great food, smiling service, good cocktails and affordable menu. My faves are the Puget Sound sandwich, Oregon Blue Salad, and the Coconut prawns.
Amazing. This is honestly my favorite restaurant. I've probably tried almost everything on the menu and been impressed every time. The specials are always delicious, and they have some delicious drink specials as well.
Great Food, Great Service. This is the place you should go for a great meal, in a great environment, with great service.
Great sandwiches, OK service. I've tried 2 sandwiches and both are very tasty: the Puget Sound and the Gorge. The portions were generous with great presentation (greens tossed with a light vinegrette on the side). I also like the restuarant's ambience and the outdoor patio is nice on warm days. However, service was slow and somewhat uneven; on one visit, we waited more than 10 minutes before anyone took our order.
Wow, what a find!. 33rd St Bistro is fabulous in all ways: the food was scrumptous, the service excellent, the ambiance romantic. I've been there a number of times now and I keep coming back. The dinner salads are huge; I highly recommend the spinach one. And breakfast is a true. 33rd St Bistro puts a spin on the old traditional breakfast and puts brunch in a whole different realm!
Great food, service.
One of the best restaurants in Sacramento for the money. Wonderful fresh food. Different choices. Great presentations. Great wine selections. Unusual choices and every day choices. Great service. Prices not out of this world for what you get!
Location and parking are pretty good if you're in the downtown area, but it's worth the drive whereever you are. I've never been disappointed. Every time the food and service are great!!
