Not a great venue.... Well the place needs a facelift inside and out...actually a good scrubbing might be the best. There've been some really good acts here in the past, but you can only live on a reputation for so long. Clean it up guys.

Booo!!! my first and last time there. i had more fun on the drive there!!!!. I was just there this past sunday and let me tell you it sucked! At first they werent going to let me and 7 of my girlfriends in because we were a specific race.I think when they saw how deep we were then they wanted to let us in. When we got in it was empty! A whole lot of old grimey lookin guys. Theres only one bathroom stall in the womens restroom. The bouncers are fruity looking and soft. The black bouncer had a fake chain promoting his clothing company. The drinks were lightweight watered down. The music was alright,we couldnt really dance to it, but we managed to.The dudes are thrax looking and the girls are nappy looking. as you can tell i havent said not one thing positive bout this club, becuase there isnt!!!and we paid for this bootsie a$s shit.so whoever said its free for the ladys mustve got there early.

the blue lamp staff is rude. I've been going to the blue lamp for a while, but the last time I went may be the last. The door guy is usually very rude, but last time he was out of control. He left a bruise on my arm, mind you I am a lady, 110 lbs, 5'7''. All I did was ask why he was always mean, this time reffering to the lady before me, whom he refused entry because she had a Mexico ID. The place was empty, so usually the ladies get in free! He tries to grab me and pinches me hard. So I go in to get support so he would leave me alone, but he followed me in yelling as loud a possible "this is my bar". Then the bar lady told me to leave! I was very hurt by the way they treated me, a paid customer who just wanted to dance. The blue lamp staff is rude! I feel bad for the djs because their fans are being chased away.

Rude and Wrong Employees. When I tried to gain access by presenting my identification, the doorman and manager rudely accused me of not presenting a valid driver's license despite my license having all of the components required by state law. Lacking a believable reason for not letting me, I presume this was accusation was merely a pretext. I wish I could provide any feedback regarding the atmosphere, quality and pricing, but since I wasn't let in, I will not be a good source for that information.

Intimate musical venue. Friday night at the Blue Lamp Lounge led to an audio experience that has left me wanting to return again and again. Three bands took control of the stage and cut loose with original tunes. The atmosphere is not intimidating and evokes the feeling of a smokey lounge from the 60's--minus the smoke. You can definitely get up close and personal with the entertainment and watch the magic happen. The crowd was mixed and friendly. If yo ur endeavor is truly that of indulging in good local musicians, then take a trip to the Blue Lamp Lounge.

Live music in a dark, intimate setting seduces the blues crowd.. The Skinny
Back in the day, the space at Alhambra and N housed a nudie bar (or "gentleman's club," as staff and patrons fondly dubbed it). Now, gone are the pasties, poles and g-strings, thanks to Boz Scaggs, who found the location to be a prime spot for a duplicate of his San Francisco club. A throwback to Rat Pack-era Vegas, it's furnished with seductively low lighting, teeny cocktail tables meant for ear nibblings and intimate tete-a-tetes, and stylin' naugahyde booths. Performers like The West Coast Playboys, Rusty Zinn and Guitar Mac and the Blues Express grace the stage six nights a week. The Bottlenecks hold acoustic blues gigs every Monday, and lead Okra Pickle Gwamba kicks out a one-man acoustical jam on select Tuesdays.

The Crowd
When there's anybody there, they're fans of the blues and of the cocktail lounge lifestyle.
