The Goods
What a lot of people don't know is that Freeport also has savory items for breakfast and lunch, like potato knishes (heavenly) and several varieties of quiche. However, these savories are really only a prelude to the desserts--you eat them only to pad your stomach with something "healthy" before gorging on what you really want, like the princess cake, the lemon cooler cake, or the "triples" chocolate cookies. One thing you'll really like about Freeport Bakery is that you can have a slice of just about any cake that you see in the case. Even if it's whole, they'll cut it for you. The pies are also excellent, as are the many house-baked breads and danishes.
When to Go
The space inside is pretty limited, and there are only a few tables out front, so get there early on a weekend morning.

When I found the Freeport Bakery and saw it was a bit crowded I knew it must be good. The store is absolutely adorable inside and out. I was a bit disappointed at the limited seating. But I can get past that. In addition to the great sweets, the breads are really good as well and the service was fast. A nice assortment of fresh, baked goods. They have great artistry in their desserts. I hear the bakery is known for their fruit basket cake . I just had to have one of the bran muffins with cream cheese. My total was only a little over $6, not bad at all. Its definitely a 5 star place.

This place is excellent. The prices range to pretty cheap to a bit pricey, but it's worth the money. Their cakes are delicious, and I LOVE their pregels (or however it's spelled....they're pretzel bagels with cream cheese on it). Be prepared for a wait, though, even though the service is speedy.
