Editorial Review for Tower Cafe – by Sarah Van Den Bosch
The Scene
The cafe evokes the laziness of a tropical island with flourishing palms and slow-moving fans--and notoriously slow service. Inside and out, abundant greenery shelters vibrantly colored pottery and worldly artifacts from the busy street. On the patio, an animated crowd further blocks out the outside world.
The Food
Tasty results come from a mix of traditional brunch items and world cuisine. Creamy custard-soaked French toast is legendary and sugary. Crab cake eggs Benedict puts a delicious twist on tradition, though you're better served asking for the standard hollandaise in lieu of unconventional bearnaise sauce. Juicy blueberries just sweeten dense cornmeal pancakes and the Mexicana omelette is filled with cool creme fraîche and fresh, spicy salsa that atone for underdone black beans. Lunch and dinner are available, with large, juicy hamburgers and thick, spicy roasted corn chowder highlighting the menu. The cafe also offers an assortment of freshly made cakes, cookies and chocolates.

Insider Tips
Look GoodAn extensive and impressive list of 32 domestic and international beers is available. Draft Guinness with a decent pour is a welcome change from the deluge of microbrews.
Save MoneyHalf-orders are available for salads, French toast and pancakes: They're cheaper than whole orders and a substantial portion in their own right.

I hate to say that my exp. at the Tower Cafe was pretty bad. The server took to long with our drinks, I ordered a salad that took almost 45 min to get to my table. Not to mention my salad had been sitting out while every other table was served. I noticed a green plate with salad just sitting there unattended. I waited and waited till finally I was given the very same salad that had been sitting out. I brought this to their attention and I was quickly given another salad. It was served to me on warm plate!!! It looked messy unlike the other salads being served. I was so disappointed!!! Maybe I went on a bad day although they didn't look busy. I doubt I will be going back.
Pros: None that I saw
Cons: service, food quality, seating, prices too high, no A/C
