Came to Sacramento for a visit and stopped in looking for HO Train stuff. The staff there was very friendly and the train folks knew what they were talking about. I plan to stop in when I am in the Sacramento area. I like the selection and they will order whatever you need. They can also repair your broken train engines (nice option). They deserve a thumbs up.
Amazing customer service. Bruce spent about an hour helping us with an RC truck we bought from a friend. We bought a charger and brought it home and it didn't work so we took it back and he tested our battery and it worked so he replaced the charger for us. Unlike usual store employees who just try to sell you something and get you out, he helped us and explained how everything works. We will definitely come back for anything else we need RC related.
Our cashier Mary was very outstanding she gave us amazing customer service. She deserves a raise! Thank you so much mary!
Liars, Crooks, and Theives – I have purchased many things from R C Country hobbies in the past. My wife knew this and decided she would get me my Christmas gift from this location.
While in the car department, my wife specifically told them that this was a Christmas gift for me, and asked if there would be any issues with a return if I already had one of the items she purchased.
The answer was "No problems if you save the receipt".
Well it turns out, I already had two of the items she bought me. With the receipt in hand, I returned to the store after Christmas and attempted to return the items.
One of the the front end supervisors told me that I would absolutely not be getting my money back without a restocking fee as that was their store policy and had been posted in the store. She told me that was California state law, and attempted to convince me that she was doing me a favor by returning the items at all (even though I had the receipt from a few days earlier).
I told the supervisor that the employee in the car department assured my wife that there would be "no problem" with a return. She cut me off and would not let me continue. She proclaimed that her employees would never say such a thing as they know store policy. She would not listen to me further.
So there it is folks, they will lie to their customers to get their dollar. Be prepared if you call them on it though, because they can do no wrong. She basically told me that my wife of nine years is a liar.
Integrity and honesty are very important to me, that is why I married my wife and why R C Country hobbies will not get another dollar from my family.
OK selection if you need something quick-otherwise take your money elsewhere. – As has already been said, the staff at R/C Country are not exactly customer service oriented. I first went there in 2002, but since then I would usually order from Tower Hobbies, or would go to Airborne Hobbies if I could.
They do have a good selection of things, and OK prices (though not as good as online of course), so if you need to pick something up, chances are they have you covered. If you aren't in a hurry for your item, I'd go with a drive to another shop or an online vendor that treats its customers with some respect.
Of course not all the clerks there are rude or un-helpful, but one person in particular is there more often than not, and he is not only always rude to just about everyone, but not terribly well informed, though he loves to hear himself talk anyway. Chances are good that if you are in the airplane department he is there. . .has a moustache, name starts with a C and rhymes with duck. . .steer clear of him if you can.
The electric airplane department guys seem better, though they tend to have new guys there that aren?t so bitter. I am fortunate that I don't generally have to ask them anything, other than if they have such and such in stock. . .if they don't, and I?m talking to this particular guy, I usually get to hear about why the item I'm asking about is junk, and that if I was an experienced modeler I would know that etc. That's the sort of comments that I usually get from this guy, and I've been in RC and full scale flying for 23 years. I guess I'll never be good enough to talk to him.
Normally I?d try to support my local brick and mortar hobby shop rather than go online for most of my purchases but when I am treated poorly I don?t have much trouble going back to tried and true TowerHobbies which has been good to me for over two decades. I pay good prices, I?m treated like my business is appreciated, if I have a question I can get an honest answer.
