Pied Piper Cocktail Lounge. Smoking is allowed as those who work there have an ownership interest.

The day/early evening crowd is mostly over 40 - but so is a large portion of the population! If those are your peers, this is desirable!

The staff is great. Food is all around. There is a very good hair cut/nail salon a couple of doors away, & it is across from Country Club shopping. The regulars are friendly & conversational if you want - they take a hint if you don't, for the most part.

The juke box is very eclectic - a sampling of most types of music is represented. The karaoke is very popular, too.

Neighborhood dive. First, the negatives:

Nearly everybody smokes, in defiance to the "No smoking in bars" law.

There is no food or menu, except for the occasional neighborhood potluck.

It looks like, and is, a dive!

Most of the customers are in their 40s and older. Definitely NOT a "pick-up" bar.

But, in fairness, the Pied Piper has some positives:

The staff is helpful and quite friendly.

They have karaoke nights from Thursdays to Sundays, with very good DJ's (Brian and Connie).

Although there is no food, the staff will let you bring food in from the neighboring restaurants around the vicinity (IHOP, Lyon's, McDonald's, Domino Pizza, Jose's Restaurant, et al).

The Pied Piper is the only place within Sacramento City Limits that still has NTN Trivia, an interactive trivial pursuit multiple-choice trivial game. There are other NTN locations, but you'd have to go to Citrus Heights or Roseville to play it.
