great variety and service. I know very little about the out doors. I went to Capital Nursery yesterday and wow , I could not believe the variety of flowers that they had. I was taken by the arm and told what flowers would be best for my home just by answering a couple of questions based on sunlight. I was impressed! Thanks to Joe and staff.

A 65-year-old Sacramento institution, it offers a great selection and fine, friendly service.. The Scene
In springtime, this place starts buzzing like the bees. Happy people make their way in and out of aisles, loading their carts up with everything they need to get back in the dirt. Some stroll leisurely, gazing at the wonderful selection of bedding flowers, while others read about bonsai trees in the book section.
The Goods

Here you'll find a good selection of shrubs, roses, shade trees and bedding plants, bulbs, tropical and patio plants. If you want to start from scratch, you'll appreciate the wall full of seed packets. In the tools and accessories section, pick up garden clogs and a sturdy shovel. Don't forget a plastic pink flamingo for the lawn, or high-quality wind chimes for the deck.

Wonderful staff. It's not the cheapest place in town, but these plants are always in good condition and this nursery always offers a healthy selection. Most of these staff members have been around for years--they know the local climate, which products will yield the best results, etc. The expert advice alone makes Capital Nursery worth paying a little more.
