Way too much $$ - Prices on web need updating. During these times, with economic hardships, most businesses are working to help there customers by lowering their prices, giving out coupons or staying moderately priced. Not so at Ford's, the prices listed on the internet, while already high priced, are substantially lower than what's published in the eatery. Some of the cashiers were curt, the sodas are over priced. I ordered a large soda, which looked like a small. Ive received better service and prices at Carls Jr. I called in my order and it ended up being a $17 meal, WHAT! Unless you want to throw money down a toilet dont go until they (Fords) really wants your business, because right now, They Dont deserve it! Trying to make sure my money goes back into the community is a JOKE. Until the community really wants my business, Ill be at the restaurant chains.
Not worth the price. Had heard good things. Hamburger was at best average and fries below average. Go to the Squeeze Inn if you want the real thing. I would suggest In n Out before Ford's.
Never Open?. OK, I can't believe how much the owner of this place does not appreciate it's popularity. The past 6 times I have gone to this establishment he's closed. He seems to not like working so every now and then he narrows the open window. The last time I went there was at 7:15pm and there he sat at the first table thru the door and proudly told me "we're closed". I had gone to this establishment many times after 8pm and never had this problem so I was bewildered. This is very confusing to me because every business owner knows how important consistancy is but this guy missed the memo. They used to be open on Sundays so one Sunday afternoon I took a friend over to have a burger and he was closed on Sundays. Then he decided to open on Sundays, but only for 3-4 hours. So I won't go back because I have given him ample chances to keep my business but he doesn't care... He wants to be closed. And it always seems to be when I want a Fords burger. I have one more scenario to report. A friend and I went to Fords at 8:30pm on a weeknight. We ordered our food and sat patiently for our food for over a half hour. Now, when you go to Fords you do not want to be in a hurry because it does take awhile to get the food prepared. So that is why we waited and waited. During our conversation the place had pretty much cleared out and the only person in the dining area was the gal who took our order. She was cleaning tables in anticipation of CLOSING (surprised?) at 9pm. At 9:03 she announces to us that "we're closed and we need to lock the doors".. We looked at her and said "You haven't served us yet, we are still waiting for our order"... She was so embarassed and the owner cooked our burgers and gave us our money back. But this does show how much they concentrate on being closed...
tasty Ford's Real Hamburgers. As far as hamburgers go, this hamburger is one of the best! There are other tasty things to eat hear as well, such as hot dogs, polish dogs, chicken patties, onion rings, and other tasty items similar.
Best Burger in Sacramento!.
Sounds like the last reviewer has a bit of Southern California-envy, but I have to agree with their review of the food at Ford's. THE BURGERS ARE FRIGGIN' DELICIOUS!
There probably isn't a burger that can rival a Double Double from In n' Out, but the burgers at Ford's comes very close. The patties are handmade and the produce is fresh. Get there before 7 p.m., though, because they shut down right on time.
These burgers top the ones from The Squeeze Inn any day!
A lot of SoCal "Burger elitists" claim that there's just no comparison to the burgers in their native Los Angeles. Well, I don't know what they put in the Burgers in L.A., but here in the Big Tomato, Ford's is one of the best joints to grab a quality burger.
One of the more important factors in picking a Ford's burger is what size and cheese is for you. If it's your first time and you're in the typical 16-24 crowd of first timers at Ford's, male or female, your best bet is to not go any higher than the 1/3 pound with Bacon and Cheese. Most are used to premade burgers and paper-thin bacon, so they get overwhelmed by anything bigger than that. For those of you that are veterans when it comes to food of the greasy persuasion, and you're with at least one other carnivore-type friend, the way to challenge yourself is the One-Pound Football with Double Orders of Bacon and Cheese, and a constant stream of Cokes. After you've conquered that, there's not too much out there for you to seek in terms of greasy spoon enlightenment unless you happen to have the means for an excursion to South Philadelphia. My one general warning to all is to simply watch how you ask for your burger to be cooked. I can't tell you how many times a perfectly good double cheeseburger has gone to waste because someone forgot to order medium rare and got well done, or vice-versa. All in all, those in the know will tell you the places that fall into that "Hole-in-the-wall" type of appearance often harbor the best burgers, and that's no different here.
I thought this was suppose to be the best?? it was the worst burger I have ever had! what kind of bun do they use? ITS ALL BUN....WHERE'S THE BEEF? I would not go back - horrible and very disapointing
still searching for a good hamburger here in sacramento.....im from LA and the hamburger joints in LA are the best!
Best Real Hamburger and fries in town. The milk shakes are to die for! Very thick and delicious. More fries than you can eat and the service is actually better than fast food joints. More personal service and after a few visits the staff and owner are interested in knowing your name. After a good burger you can walk across the street and stroll in William Land Park or go to the zoo! Sounds like a good day!
BEST fries and burgers IN TOWN.
Ford's has always been a favorite of mine. I've grown up down the street from it and it continues to be excellent. Everything on the menu is worth ordering from the Coney Island-style franks to their most popular #1 1/3lb hamburger. The cashiers always ask exactly what you want on your food and know the menu very well. Some of the previous reviewers have mentioned poor service, and what they really mean is that at times it does take a while to get your food. Ford's is NOT fast food. They cook-to-order so if you come with a large group, expect a longer wait than the one person on their lunch break behind you ordering a 3oz kids burger. Their busy days are Friday-Sunday.
If you're ever looking for a good, thick milkshake, some great FRESH CUT fries, and a hearty, inexpensive burger. Look no further than Ford's!
HORRIBLE Service. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I love their turkey burgers and fries, especially for the price. But the service is just plain AWFUL. I used to live down the street from the place and would frequent it often. However, my love for their food could not overcome the multiple times where the service was so bad that I left fuming mad! I too many service-related horror stories and could go on for while. And what's with the hours? I went there on a Friday night at 7:05pm... people inside eating and all.. when I went up to order, the highschool girl working said "Sorry, we're closed." WHAT! A burger joint closed at 7:00 on a Friday night!?!? Give me a break. Haven't been back since.
