Overview – With a wide representation of the animal kingdom and an exotic, tranquil atmosphere, the zoo is a must-see attraction. Weekdays afford a greater opportunity to see the animals without having to fight the crowds. – – The Experience – For an interactive experience, attend one of the "animal encounter" lectures. Be more than a spectator by participating in the Adopt an Animal program, where your family can sponsor an animal for a modest fee. Participants receive detailed information on the progress of the animal long after their visit to the zoo.

we are from modesto ca..we drove about an hour 15 min to get there and it took about 5 min for us to finish seeing all the animals...well was upset because we had looked at a couple diffrent zoos before settling on the one in Sac. their web site made them really interesting...NOT...said they had over four hundread animals which is WRONG they dont they have about 14 animals thats a big diffrence...was just not happy!!
- Pros: fairy tail land
- Cons: was just a long drive for a 5 min walk through a zoo!!!
Great for Kids

We come to the Sacramento Zoo all the time. The price is decent at about $10 for an adult. If you haven't been here in a while, it might be time to try again. The old cement prison-house-looking animal internment camp has been upgraded from an Abu Grhaib to almost as nice as Guantanamo Bay.
This is not a sprawling estate, particularly when compared to the other local options like Oakland and San Francisco, but the size makes for a a very one-on-one experience with the animals, their handlers, and the occasional groundskeeper.
Be sure to check out the primate area and the reptile area. Best two spots of the whole place.
Oh, the company that they brought in to do the funnel cake sales used an animal-base to cook the food so don't buy the funnel cake if you don;t eat meat because it tastes like a sugar-coated cheeseburger (I just know that someone reading this will make a fortune selling my sugerburger idea to American fast food executives in silk suits stretched tight over cellulose infused backskin *shudder*).
- Pros: Great for Kids, good prices
- Cons: food court
The Animals

The animals are pretty cool, but my heart got in the way of thinking about all of the animals trapped in cages on display for our amusement (spelling?). If i remember right, the line was pretty big when we got there. And we parked pretty far away
- Pros: lots of animals

Great Fun for Only $6.75!

This zoo is just big enough that you're not exhausted when you've seen everything. It's not as big as the SF Zoo but it's not as crowded and very small and intimate. Plus the price of ticket is so cheap it's definitely a good value and you can support your animal friends too! You seen the entire place in about an 1 1/2 hours. They have giraffes, red pandas, hippos, zebras, gorilla, chimps, tigers, and more!
- Pros: $6.75 admission, Easy Parking, Not Crowded
