In Short – Debuting in 1962 as Thrif D Discount Center in Scranton, Pa., this drugstore chain became known as Rite Aid in 1968, and today is one of the largest in the nation. In addition to a pharmacy, each store carries a wide variety of health-care and household items--from nutritional supplements to cleaning supplies to snack foods. Flu clinics are held at various locations throughout the flu season.

Not Much Compassion for Injured Customers

Befoe I begin I do want to say this store is very clean and seemingly well set up. However My experience with this store was upsetting to say the least. I was going to pick up my sons script and was walking a little faster than usual because he was ill.
I was directly in the isle which was visible to the pharmacy, when the next thing I knew I was on the floor, flat on my back!.
They had neglected to pick up a cardboard end cap which had fallen onto the floor. It was white, like the floor and when I stepped on it , it slid and I fell hard, twisting my knee and slaming my back and head on the floor. The only one to help was a lady shopping next to me, she came to my aid and called out and said I had fallen. The manager came as I was getting up (I was embarrased) and he just said oh, are you okay? I said, like a stupid being, "yes" and that was it. He did not have me sit for a minute nor assist me in any other way. In fact he just left and went home.
I went next door while waiting for the meds and decided that maybe I should ask to fill out something in case I needed to be seen about my now very painful knee.
They said, oh! he's not here now so you will have to come back tomorrow and fill it out. He was supposed to call me and did not do so until late the next day, gave me a number to call for some papers to be sent, which never were!
Now, I have never sued anyone in my 69 years of living, but I have not seen a doctor for tests because I cannot afford them, and am stuck with a problem knee. Frankly I feel I should have sued the pants off that store, or been compensated in some way for their neglience which resulted in an older person being hurt, I could have broken my hip, etc.
I think I am so mad because there were no follow up calls or at least a note of apology for what happened to me. Like I, as a good customer, choosing to spend my money in their facility, when Walgreens is almost as close to me, didn't matter at all. I have chosen not to ever buy another thing in that store and someone said I had a year to decide to sue them. Like I stated, I am not a person who gives thought to sueing anyone just to sue them. Never! This one store, may end up being an exception to the rule.
Thank You for letting me vent this experience to you!
