The Food
Bugambilias' claim to fame is goat meat, a traditional delicacy enjoyed in the Michoacan region of Mexico. Owner Martina Olivares, who contends that "Goat is much better than beef," says that her customers come from as far away as San Jose, Lake Tahoe and Reno to feast on her birria de chivo con caldo,--goat meat cooked in a "special consomme."
What to Order
Locals love the birra de chivo seca, goat meat served with rice and beans. Or if goat meat doesn't flip your pancake, try Olivares' "very Mexican" caldo de camaron, clear tomato-based soup with shrimp and vegetables, or the costillas, baby pork ribs cooked with jalapeno and tomato sauce.
