Over 20 years. Mana was my first experience with Sushi over 20 years ago... I've went to literally hundreds of restaurants since then, and continue coming back to Mana every time!!!

smelly sushi. Mana's on Broadway is deteriorating. My initial experience was good, but now, after a couple of years of being a regular customer, Manas have forgotten what a good fresh fish should look and taste like. From fresh yellow tail to the succulent salmon, nothing of the sort can be found... unless you happen to be lucky that day. After expressing my concerns over a smelly yellow tail that was put in front of me, the sushi chef became angry at me. Go to Mana's if you are feeling lucky that day (maybe after winning a million dollar lottery).

Worse sushi manager/owner place! (They will over charge your bill if you don't pay attention). Hello all,

I took my sushi members to this place to eat because they have wonderful food at a good price range. However, when you get your check make sure that you really check it because the manager/owner will try to charge you more than what the the price is. Even after you tell him he will still argue with you. I had a party of 15 people and we each had the all you can eat for 19.99 but when we received our check it said 19.99 bu the subtotal was 20.59 and on top of that he tried to charge us two time for the gratuity of 18%. So we pointed out to him that it was wrong and he kept insisting that it was so I told him to give the me calculator and recalcute the total to show him that it was wrong, so he finally said ok, I'll it. After waitng around for half and hour our check came again the second time and it was still wrong. So we all recalculate it on the check and paid was appropriate. Then the manager/owner started to yell at me for not paying the correct amount on the check when it was wrong to start with.

So if you want a place with good sushi which they do have and our server Karen was great, but the manager/owner was terrible and has a horrible customer service manner and service himself.

I highly recommend that if you go to this place to eat make sure that you double and triple check your bill or you will get rip off for sure.

Thank you,

Some good stuff. My wife an I keep trying other places, mostly because we'd like something more romantic, yet I always end wishing I'd spent the same money at Mana. A few of the things we order when I go there are w/ my spouse:

- a dinner (chicken teriyaki) because it comes with miso soup, rice and tempura

- sea steak

- a roll and some nigiri

The atmosphere is tolerable, definitely not romantic. It doesn't look very special when you walk in, but you forget all of that (even the odd manager that yells a lot) when you get your meal. Prices are average, now they even have an all you can eat roll for $20.

marginal sushi, poor service. I am writing this review about the new Mana on Broadway, which was a good place to eat sushi until Mana took it over. I went there and complained about some pretty bad tasting yellowtail. On the rare occasions when I have a complaint in a restaurant, I expect the staff to show at least some concern. Not here. When I asked for the bill, I was surprised to still see the yellowtail on there. I told them I only ate half of it, and therefore should only pay for half of it. After some deliberation, they agreed. This was a big turn off. The sushi there is ok, but not great. The prices are high. I will not be going back.

Worst service ever!!!!. If you want to be rushed and treated bad this is the place for you. I was having a good lunch til the clock struck 2 pm. At that point i was told they are closed and to pay bill.I still had over half my lunch left and beverages. When i told the waitress how rude she was she then began to act as if she didnt understand. Her english was PERFECT prior to that!! After spending $20 for lunch I would have liked to be able to eat it!!

Great sushi, atmosphere and prices: might be the best sushi in Sacto. The room is huge, open and can be somewhat manic, but the staff are extremely friendly and the sushi here is just great. Frequently offering fresh specials such as bluefin tuna and other fish in season, Mana is the place to go if you're a purist or if you just want great sushi. I've been there 4 or 5 times and have yet to be disappointed. I've recommended the place to others and now they love it, too.

better japanese food elsewhere. We used to get take out from Mana because it's close to our work, but the sushi is overpriced, considering its poor quality. The box lunches and dinners do come with large portions but again the quality is poor. I do like their miso soup however. The service is haphazard, during the daytime the staff are usually friendly. At night, the service is pretty bad. I stopped going there after Taro's opened at the mall. The prices are about the same, but the quality at Taro's completely outshines Mana's.

BEST Sushi in Sacramento!!. I LOVE this place! We eat there at least twice a month and have been for the last 3 years. I see some of the reviews people have written about the main dinners, and that I have no comment on since I only have eaten the sushi. The rolls are big and flavorful and the best I have had anywhere. The fish is always fresh and service is good. I have eaten Sushi at quite a few restaurants here and in San Francisco and this is still the best! So far for me the only thing they have been slow about is bringing the check...LOL

poor quality, way way WAY over priced!!. I've been consistently disappointed with this place over the last year. (it used to be great about five years ago). I'll never go back. I ordered the tempura dinner and I think it was about $15 - it was doughy and greasy (their tempura was made from some frozen 'premade' stuff - reminded me of the stuff you can get at Trader Joe's and cook at home.) The sushi was sloppy and not all that fresh. For the quality and service you'd at least think the place would be inexpensive - but it's ridiculously OVER PRICED. My recommendation: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
