I went to Hal's for the first time last
week and I was highly satisfied.
I've had bad previous experiences at car places because it would end up costing me so much money and I never understood why, which made me feel a little taken advantage of at times. My dad actually bought this coupon package Hal's has available that's only about $70 bucks, and it has I think 8 free oil changes on it, an hour of free labor, free radiator flushes, free check engine light check, those sort of things, so I decided to try them.
I'm an idiot and let my check engine light go on for like 3 months, so I just knew whatever it was to be fixed was extremely bad and extremely expensive by now, especially considering that at this point my car was overheating.
Thank God for Hal's and that coupon package because my bill only ended up being about $220 in all. I saved a good $120 for a replaced vacuum hose, new thermostat, some coolant and an oil change. And the only reason it even costed that much is because they had to test drive it for so long, my car wasn't exactly overheating all the time, the thermostat only sticked sometimes. The new vacuum hose fixed all my other problems. I had with the car: rough idling, noisy engine and even the brakes were effected. I love driving my car now, it's even quieter than when I first bought it.
The customer service was awesome, I handled everything with Russ who was extremely courteous and honest. Never once did I get that uneasy or shady feeling you get from most car places who try to swindle you and he kept in contact with me on all the repairs, and both repairs were fixed that same day- with no appointment.
They're fairly easy to get to if you're familiar with the Arden-Arcade area. It's the street lined with auto garages behind Target on Alta-Arden.
I recommend this place to anyone, even for oil changes, with the car care coupon package, it pays for itself in about 2 changes. I had to even get one for myself and stop mooching off my dad. Which was another bonus, he was allowed to use his coupons on me, and not just his car.
I will most certainly be going back to Hal's for all my car needs from now on.

My late father found this shop after a
bad experience elsewhere -- and he was VERY picky about his mechanics. I have had the unpleasant experience lately of having not one but TWO cars break down and be towed -- but I knew I'd be in good hands at Hal's.
After the first tow, Mike and Kenny both told me immediately how sorry they were I'd lost my dad, and how much they liked him. Meant a lot to me.
All well and good, but what about the service? They are fast to figure out what's wrong, get it fixed at a good price and get you back on the road. They have done well by our family (my brother takes his truck here, too) and I wouldn't hesitate to recommended -- and have!

Brought in my vehicle to have the A/C repaired..nice people..the air-conditioning worked great..for about a week. Brought back, and as it turned out, a seal, that wasn't part of their repair job, had now ruptured. They repaired it, absorbed the cost of the new freon re-charge, and now the air-conditioning has been working perfect. The are very competent and friendly people, and they have my vote to utilize their services whenever vehicle repairs are necessary.

Very fast and professional. I absolutely trust them. The only sad thing is... they are pricey, but with my bad experience with other mechanics in this town, I'm more then glad to pay extra, as long as I know my car is getting fixed.

Had another great experience at Hal's!
Price was reasonable and car is fixed. They even had a loaner car so I could get to work and back to pick my car up.
I highly recommend this friendly shop.

This shop was recommended to me by a trusted friend, and his father specifically for work on the air conditioning. I was skeptical, and a co-worker who owned an auto-repair shop in a previous life, cautioned me that I should take my mercedes to the dealer.; However, I decided to trust Hal's 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty and had them repair my air conditioning. It worked during the summer of 2011, but this spring, it no longer worked. I called them and they had me in the computer and said I did not need to find my original paperwork. They made an appointment, found a leaking seal, and fixed it within 4 hours.

Car Air Conditioner Service. For air conditioning service new and repair work, they are very good. They also back their work and if problems arise, they take excellent care of their clients. It is very important to me to know that the company is honest and ethical. Hal's Auto Care is.
