Not authentic but cool place. No where near authentic mexican but the food is still really good. You can't beat the view of the river and it is a great place to take the family. We had a lot of fun here.

BAD. Just bad.. The service is nonexistent, the food is awful - looks dried out by heat lamps, the drinks are slow coming and lousy tasting; and the management stands by it all. Our server, if you can call it that, showed up about every 20 minutes. If you have a large party, they'll charge an 18% gratuity, and knowing this is guaranteed, the server will ignore you all night. I had to clear plates for our birthday girl's cake. I had to chase the server down several times. He screwed up the check in the restaurant's (and his) favor. He fought with me at the table over letting me split the check - said it had to do with his precious tip. You can be sure I'll never go back to that shithole.

Terrible Service...NEVER coming back here again!. First of all, did you know that this Chevys is the ONLY one in the entire USA that does NOT have Happy Hour (M-F, 3-7) $3 Drinks & Appetizers? Management says it's because they have such a "desirable" location...hah!

Anyway, last summer my husband and I were on a motorcycle ride and decide to stop in and give this place a try. We sat in the cantina and waited patiently for some water (it was a HOT summer day!) for the first 8-10 minutes. No one even came to our table, so disgusted, I went to the bar myself and got two glasses of water (the bartender got them for me right away and apologized for the slow service).

We finished our waters and still no server...but she finally showed up 15 minutes later when we had already decided to leave...and we're NEVER coming back!

Blah, really? Don't eat just go for the view. So, I'm an avid hater of the chain restaurant, and I don't like Tex Mex, Fresh Mex, whatever label you give the horrendous food that is served here.

That said, the dipping "salsa" is really yummy. That's about it. I ordered some plate of something that was really gross, so did my dad. It was ok, we were hungry. I needed to sit outside and relax and that was something that could be done there. Nice view of the river. Looks like they have a good happy hour.

They always have coupons and such so it could be a cheap date if you're into that type of gross food.

The wait-staff and management are nice.

Boring, bland, gross food. Parking is really hard to find.

A festive atmosphere, potent margaritas and wallet-friendly prices lure crowds to this popular Mexican chain.. In Short
With friendly servers and goofy gimmicks, Chevys is a big draw for families and groups looking for a fun, affordable night out. A full bar and a dozen different margaritas attract a happy hour crowd, and a tortilla machine is often surrounded by children watching the dough-to-tortilla transformation. Fajitas, a house specialty, are available with nearly a dozen different fillings, from mesquite-grilled chicken to portobello mushrooms and asparagus. Desserts include flan and sopaipillas.

Love it so much I want to work there .. This place is the all around good times for everyone. If your plans include Fresh Mex , depending on your company , parking may land you in front of the doors or on Garden Hwy it self . Maybe your out with Mom and Dad or the Grand parents , so an early dinner was on everyones minds already . Parking won't be a problem , but if the night includes hanging out with your friends then dinner is served all the way until they close . The drinks from the bar are wonderful and the chips and salsa are always fresh . Remember that Fresh Mex means no cans , thats right no tin cans to be found here because everything is made that day . The staff are always a group of friendly fun people , I used to be one . This is true I had five super years working on the river , and now five more years have came and gone . Chevys on the river is still hands down the best time whether you are a guest or you make your pay check there .

Bypass this gastric landmine. The only reason this place sees any business is because it's near the river. I've been there a few times because the Blue Gecko next door was too crowded and have never enjoyed Chevy's. Last night was the worst. We showed up and were seated at one of their cheap plastic tables outside, and the table was literally falling apart. We didn't see a waitress or even a glass of water for 15 minutes. We finally ordered and my margarita didn't show up for another 15 minutes because, as I was told, the bar was "behind." 15 minutes..? My food was terrible. I ordered the "cinco" plate, which included a variety of items. The plate was enormous: Chevy's obviously tries to make up for low quality with large quantities. My chile relleno was a flaccid, deflated and gooey mess sitting in a pool of grease in its own plate. It was awful to look at. The other items were completely coated in a red sauce that tasted as though it were ketchup based. Authentic is certainly not a word that comes to mind. $45 seemed pretty pricey for dinner for two at this quality (below many mexican fast food places). To make matters worse, I ended up with an upset stomach that kept me awake all night.

I should have gone to Taco Bell!!!. I believe the only reason this place does the buisness it does is b/c it's on the river! My fiance & I went one night, can't tell you how it was b/c we walked out due to the fact that a server never showed up...even after we asked for one! Then we watched the manager notice us a few times but did nothing. We sat waiting & waiting, then left.On our way out they thanked us for coming & hoped we had a good time.Obviously the hostess doesn't pay that much attention. We tried a week later. The app alone took about 35 min.The food was ok.The server was very understanding about us being upset about the fact the app came out a few minutes before the food. She spoke w/the manager & she removed it from our bill. But the manager never came over to say anything.Whatever happened to customer service?I should have gone to Taco Bell.
