A restaraunt afloat will keep your appetite afloat!. The Virgin Sturgeon is a neat restaurant situated on the Sacramento River, close to downtown. It is a floating restaurant, serving awesome seafood. To enter, you can drive up with limited parking, but walk through an old airport jetway down to the place; depending on how deep the river is, depends on how steep the jetway is! It is a well known restaurant in the area, and there is a wait at the front on weekends at least. However there service is good, the employees are friendly. Its warm inside, but cool on the outside deck if you're there on a nice summer night. The waitress was very cute and friendly, a nice bonus. The food was awesome! Freshly caught salmon (was there Labor Day weekend 2011 when salmon season started) was just awesome, and the Sturgeon was out-of-this world; the name is indeed fitting. The steak sandwich was also good, and they have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages as well as Coca-Cola brand sodas. It is also accessible by a river dock, where you can pull up in your boat (no houseboats) and tie-up and walk in. However, there is a lot of competition for dock parking, so get there early and spend time at the bar if you're not ready to eat. It is a relatively expensive eating establishment, but the food is definitely worth the money, and I can't wait to go again in October! An overall excellent eatery, with all the nice touches, a great patina and great food.

With The I-5 construction project going on we had reservations for (6) people at 6:3- pm. We arriver at & pm!!!! I and my partner thought we would try the "Lemon Pepper Stugeon" at $17.99 a dinner with a choice of mashed potatoe or rice (no vegetable). Well when we got our "Camel pack of ciggarette size) stugeon, It kind of stunned us. With our 6-8oz. of Sturgeon for @17.99 we begant eat. Don't get me wrong, if you like to here F#@K you or F#@K youMotherF#@er coming from the bar several times in a 15 minute time period then this the place for you. I would howeve suggest you leave the kid;s at home due to the prophanity the seem to breek the dinning room air one in a while.
Also the rest room are unified and filthy.
The bill for the 6 of us including tip $150.00

Great Seafood!. I love ta atmosphere and the service. I went with a table of 7 and we all shared food. Everything had its own taste and was delicious! Try it, you'll like it!
Great food and service. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and it was very busy but the service was still awesome. I did not have to wait long and the food was great. I had the burger which was fabulous and not over cooked. My wife had the sturgeon. I had some of her fish and it was great and for a reasonable price. The view is nice and right on the river. I would definitely eat there again.
Terrible should be renamed to the plastic Sturgeon. I had the appetizer variety platter. The Sturgeon was horrid, hard as plastic and tasted like it. I had not been there in about 5 years and my has it changed. From the cobwebs on the ramp to the abominable service, to the poor quality and presentation of the food, I was very surprised and disssapointed. I took my husband there for our 8Th anniversary lunch. Perhaps the beer drinking river crowd find this atmosphere acceptable , but the discerning diner will not. The topper to this event was the bus boy passing our table at least 20 times taking dirty dishes downstairs and bringing up items. The waitress was awful and the drinks are stingy. Pass this place up. Only saving grace was the river. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 1 and that is for the river
Permanently docked on the Sacramento River, this converted riverboat is a popular spot for fresh seafood and romantic views..
In Short
Arriving by both boat and car, families and couples crowd tables on the small wooden barge for seafood delivered daily from local fisheries. The combination platter of smoked delicacies--salmon, sturgeon, shrimp and Cajun chicken--offers a generous sampling of house favorites. On warmer days, large glass windows are opened, affording spectacular views of the sunset. The restaurant's outdoor patio on an adjacent boat is popular in the summer for appetizers and cocktails.
Enjoyable River Dining.
The menu is limited, the place is very casual and comfortable. The food is good. Have enjoyed breakfast, lunch & dinner at the Sturg on many ocassions. Right on the river -- fabulous in the summer. In the winter you'll want to be seated close to the wood stove! You can judge how high the river is by whether you are walking up or down the airplane ramp to get into the restaurant.
While it's unfortunate another reviewer had their vehicle broken into, it's hardly the restaurant's fault.
The fish is always a good bet at the Sturg, and if you're not into fish, the steak sandys are good, too.
