Service with concern.
We bought our pool and accessories from Backyard Pools in 2002 and have experienced outstanding service since.
Four years after our purchase, the sidewall of our pool was damaged due to a storm. Not wanting to shell out $400 for a repair specialist to come in, the folks at Backyard went the extra mile. One of them came over to my house and walked me through a side-wall repair. She didn't have to do this. I did the job myself and have been forever thankful for their help. The individual who came over was one of the daughters. This is customer service.
And just this year, the older lady walked me through a skimmer repair that, again, saved hundreds. We've been customers for 7 years now, and will go to no other pool store.…
Over priced, slow and VERY rude..
We initially bought a 21' Doughboy pool from Backyard Pools, about 2 years ago. That transaction went o.k. aside from them being incredibly slow. Now that we've had the pool for a couple of years,
we know much more about parts, maintenance, brands and cost.
We now realize the obscene mark-up on their prices. For instance, a 21', 20mil vinyl liner for a above ground pool is about $600.00 at Backyard Pools.
We bought one that is 25mil, vinyl from Leslie Pools in Roseville for $260.00. That was after they happily matched a online price we found. Even so, Leslie Pools had a 25mil liner for our pool regularly priced at $380.00. That's still a big differance from what Backyard Pools was asking and they WON'T price match.
Backyard Pools tried to tell us we were buying a inferior liner and that theirs was of superior quality. Phht! Please! Their liners are 20mil. Ours is 25mil and NOT recycled materials.Their Slogan say's "we will not be undersold"!.
Try getting them to match a price. They'll act like you just personally insulted them. It's a family run business and the rudest of the bunch is the mother. She's a monster. The two daughters who work in the front are a little better but not by much and there's another person who works the front area as well and she's a absolute pig of a human being.
We've tried several times to shop there with optimism and good humor, but each time we walked away saying "never again". Be forewarned if you think you need to go to Backyard Pools. They are a rude bunch of rip-offs.…
