Rude and Lousy Food. The owner lectured my children for leaving food on their plates. When I asked her not to lecture my children, she yelled at me and purposefully overcharged me. Also, the food is lousy. STAY AWAY.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.... Worst food ever....friends its better to stay hungry rather then going to this place.

Its waste of money and time. They take orders after like 30 mins and give u food after another 30 mins which is like s***. It was the worst experience ever.

DON'T GO THERE ......SAVE YOURSELF FROM THE MISERABLE FOOD.

VERY BAD. We were 4 adults that went to Nikki's on 4th of july weekend for dinner. We waited for 45mins for someone to ask if we need water. Then after we ordered another hour went by before the food came and it was cold and only 1/2 of what we ordered came. When i went in to talk Nikki the owner was so rude to us she told us she was too busy to deal with complains!

I think that was the worse service i have ever got!i would never go back and do not recommend the food to anyone as the taste was as bad as the owner.

Tourist Trap!!!! Overpriced, Cold Food, Dissapointment, Excuses. The five star reviews on this page were obviously written by the owner, Read on.

I came in with a few friends (one of whom is pakistani). We came in and no one else was in the restaurant. We called ahead and let them know we were coming. Currie's are $15 (but don't come with anything), you'll end up paying $5 for a "whole wheat" "serving" of Roti and a serving of rice ($2) and a flat drink ($2). They literally poured the pepsi out of a pitcher, it was so watered down with melted ice it looked like ice tea. It was completely flat. We asked that it be replaced and they replaced it.

The co-owner's recommended that we split an entree because the portions were generous. We even asked him "Are they really big enough to split?" He said "yes, of course". They were definitely not. They were very small entree's even for one person. Do not split. The serving of roti was 2 thin pieces (each about the size and width of a corn tortilla) for $5.

Despite the fact that we were the only people in the restaurant and they were obviously in need of business, when we confronted her (very amicably and tactfully) about our eating experience; she responded with excuses.

The food was cold---------------Excuse: Lake tahoe is cold.

The portions were small------- Yeah they were. Sorry.

The roti is small------------------ Pakistani Roti is bigger, Indian roti is smaller. (Not true!)

The roti is not whole wheat---- It is whole wheat.--------- I eat whole wheat every day, this is not whole wheat.-------- It's indian whole wheat. ------ uh... ok.

Most restaurants in this price range respond to such complaints with a thorough and heartfelt apology, a discount, or an offer to make it better. Not at the chaat cafe.

We all left hungry.

ps this is not a chaat cafe, it is a sit-down restaurant.

Yum!. Good food and the lunch buffet is a great deal. I found the service warm and prompt. As far as coupons, I have used them there on a number of occasions and have never encountered any problems.

WE HAD TO CALL COPS. This place $uck$ high time!!!! Beware friends!! The owner of this place tries his best to rip you off,,,We had to call COPS,,

Our Story: We were a group of seven people. We had some coupons which we used at several places in Tahoe like Jet Ski, power boat, para sailing etc,, We had a 25% off coupon for this restaurant. We went there and ordered food. The coupons were on the table. We ate and then when we tried to pay the bill and showed him the coupons, he said he won't take them. He even said these are not his coupons (What a crap,,,as these coupons cannot be on the internet if he didn't advertise them),,He then started saying that we should have shown it to him before we ate,,,and that these coupons are not valid on weekend (His Menu says no coupons accepted on saturday)...we were there on Sunday,,,Then we asked for the bill,,,,we checked the bill and we saw he over charged us like $30. We called the cops. The officer said he cannot force him to take coupons but the bill was settled. The bill was for $130. The issue was not about the coupons ($30 = %25), but the issue was that he was trying to rip us off....I would strongly suggest you guys keep your hands on your wallets if you go there,,,anything can happen,,

About food: We ordered the paranthas,,,,and we got DEEPS Packet parathas,,,we ordered Raita,,,,there was like 2 spoons for $6. We live in bay area and the food in Nikki's Chaat cafe was worse than any restaurant in the bay area. Try Chevy's (Mexican). It's better.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST NOT TO GO THERE. COPS TOLD US WE CAN FILE REPORT IN CIVIL COURT, BUT THAT WILL BE IN TAHOE AND WE COULDN'T MANAGE IT. SO GUYS, PLEASE HELP YOUR FRIENDS, AND TELL THEM NOT TO GO THERE, FOR THERE SAKE.

BAD FOOD, BAD SERVICE, BAD ETHICS, NO MORAL, NO SHAME,,,,,THE OWNER IS A JACK$$$

this was the horrifying experience.. This was the worst indian resturant I ever gone. The service is also not so good. We had ordered naan and a vegetable. Naan was given first and vegetable came after 20 min., by then the naan was completely cold. We didn't like anything over there.

Great Indian food. Informal Indian diner, service from friendly owners but what sets it apart is the outstanding food. We had breakfast items from the menu which were great and authentic Indian coffee. Excellent Pani puri and Idli/Sambar.

Great food, feel like a local!!. We have traveled extensively in Asia and Europe and look for the one or two local restaurants that we can call "home" during our visits. I stumbled onto Nikki's as I was told that the wait at the local restaurant next door would be 45 minutes. When we walked in, we knew we had found home. The local owners greeted us with a big smile and asked my family to sit away from the window where we would be comfortable. The place was filled with happy chatter; later we would find out that many "locals" were regulars and one could find out just about anything going on in the city. Our breakfast that day was great, served hot, very tasty, and the service was outstanding. We looked on City Search for reviews for dinner and read the review from PBSS about Nikki's. My wife laughed and made a comment about how some people just have to complain about something. We decided to return to Nikki's for dinner; we were in for a fun filled evening.

Mita, the owner, was still there! We were not real familiar with Indian Food (other than the "type prepared for Westerners" so we asked Mita to make us dinner. We could tell that she just loved this freedom. She and Bu (her husband) proceeded to ask about what types of food we liked, would we like to be adventurous, and how much time we had. Where else in the world can you get this type of service? The dinner (and dessert) were unbelievable. I won't pretend to remember the names of the dishes or what we ate. I can say that the meal was one of the best we have ever had, world over. It was tasty, it was prepared so that we could taste the different seasonings, and it was served like a "banquet." We had appetizers, some Indian tea, a great meal, and then a special made dessert. We were there for over 2 hours and it was one of the eating highlights of our lives. While we were there an Indian couple came in and asked Mita to open a restaurant in their home town. Eat at Nikki's if you enjoy food and a great atmosphere.
