A terrible restaurant, we should have went across the street to Raley's, the supermarket would have been better than this place!
My husband and I just left this place where we were supposed to have breakfast. I ordered hard boiled eggs, blueberries, a side of avocado and oatmeal. I had requested that they put the cinnamon that came with the oatmeal on the side, and I also asked that they bring me just the hot water and the dry oatmeal a in a bowl, as I preferred to make it myself. They brought me runny soupy oatmeal with no cinnamon on the side. The hard boiled eggs were completely runny inside. We were very nice to the waitress and just told her that we didn't want those items as they were not what we had ordered. I proceed to eat my blueberries and my husband was talking with me when a man approached our table. He told us in a very loud and obtrusive voice that he had removed the items from our bill and that the waitress was doing us a favor by making the eggs (the eggs that were ill prepared and not what we asked for). Shocked, my husband and I just looked at each other, we were speechless by such rude and arrogant behavior. My husband said to this man “a favor, you are doing your customers a favor by serving them?" "That's right" the man said. My husband asked the man his name, the man yelled his name at my husband and proceeded to yell that he was the "owner" of the Driftwood Café as he scurried away from our table.
I am here to tell you that this "owner" clearly verbally accosted his paying customers for no reason without provocation. I did inform the 'owner' when we checked out of his dump that his behavior was not in any way customer friendly and that we would never come back again. The 'owner' told me to “shut up" and that he didn't need any customer lecturing him on how to run his business! We never raised our voice nor were we rude to anyone in any way at anytime. We never said a cross or agitated word to the waitress when the order was wrong. We simply and politely requested that the ill prepared food be removed from our bill. The next thing we know we are being verbally assaulted by the owner in the middle of his restaurant..
This guy clearly feels that because he owns one of the few restaurants that are open for breakfast in the area of the Marriott hotels, that customers are just a necessary evil that he can treat any way that suits him. If you expect a good quite meal that is prepared properly and would like to leave your dining experience un-accosted by the "owner", then I would not recommend this place.
