RIP OFF!. We stayed at this hotel when we took a day trip to Tahoe in October. It was a Saturday and we just walked-in. We had no reservation. We asked for a room with a balcony for one night. They said the rate was $162.00. The rate was fine and the room was clean, except that the heat did not work. They gave us a space heater. When we got our credit card billing, they had charged $326.00. We called the hotel and were told that they have a 2-night minimum. This was NOT mentioned when we signed in on a Saturday and was not mentioned when we checked out the following morning or on the bill they gave us.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS RESORT! They will rip you off!

Pictures on hotel website not always representative of the room you get.. Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Great location - can walk to casinos and shops and have free access to beach(gorgeous sunset every night) which is also within a mile walk. The grounds and pool area are kept very clean. Enjoyed the two-level jacuzzi outside with the pool.

Cons: The pictures on the hotel website are not representative of the room that they give you(this was also confirmed by another guest who was staying at the hotel), make sure that you ask what you are getting with the room.

Will not honor online reservations. I made a reservation through Priceline at the 3 Peaks Resort. The reservation was confirmed. I even called 3 Peaks three days before our arrival and confirmed our reservation with the front desk clerk. When we arrived, we were told they had overbooked and did not have a place for us. The desk clerk said he had made a reservation at another hotel, and Priceline would pay the difference. They also turned away the guests in front of us (booked thru Expedia), and the guests behind us (booked online, unknown site).

Coincidentally, 3 Peaks still had the "vacancy" sign lit, and when we anonymously called later, they said they had rooms available (at a much higher rate).

The second hotel was nearly three times more expensive, and not affiliated with Priceline. Priceline, of course, refused to pay the difference, and eventually only refunded us, leaving us stuck in Tahoe with no hotel.

From talking with residents, we learned 3 Peaks overbooks all the time, and turns away online reservations if they think they can get more money (this was a big concert weekend). What a scam!!! (A former-clerk told us they turn away about five reservations per day, more on holiday or other big weekends).

We are reporting 3 Peaks to the California Attorney General's Office and the Business Bureau.

Bottom line: If you made an online reservation at 3 Peaks, then make another reservation somewhere else. 3 Peaks will not honor online reservations, even guaranteed prepaid ones. Buyer beware - they will cancel reservations if they think they can get more money!

Horrible staff and atmosphere. But I stayed here a year ago and I thought it was nice and charming. I stayed here over the weekend and it was terrible!! Not only did they treat me rudely but they did so in their falling apart "lobby" while sitting at some fold up card table.!! Then at 9 in the morning we were awakened by this enormous and horrifically loud garbage truck getting rid of this pile of garbage and scraps that was taking up a quarter of the parking lot so there was all this smashing and banging. I will never stay here again.
