In the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this lakeside gem provides picture-perfect camping amid peaks, streams and pines.. The Setting
With its rugged shoreline and blue-green water, Emerald Bay on Lake Tahoe is a mountain gem. Vikingsholm, a replica of a Scandinavian castle sits within the park--as if to underscore the park's wild, alpine setting. Hikers can take in waterfalls and panoramic views from Eagle Falls, or hike to nearby Desolation Wilderness.

The Facility
Campsites are for a mixture of tents and trailers/RVs. There are no hook-ups, but restrooms and showers are nearby. There is a boat launch, as well as fishing facilities. Tours are available of the 38-room Vikingsholm mansion.
