What the f****.
I checked in at 4pm on a Saturday and the girl at the front desk was VERY Rude. She told me that my room wasn't ready and would call me when it came available. Ok?....? whatever. We were there for a wedding that was taking place that night. So we went to the bar (The only mildly acceptable part of the entire stay). An hour later I checked back to see if our room was ready as I needed to change for the wedding in an hour. I was then told that our room had been given away. Are you kidding me? They were able to accommodate us in a smaller "Standard" room. The most ridiculous part is the girl at the front made it seem like it was our fault the room wasn't available. So we get to our room which can only be described as Motel 6. It was dingy durty and creepy. we foudn a dead coakroach in the bathroom. We were so afraid to pull back the sheets that we slept in our clothes on top of the covers.
Fast foward to the ceremony. It took place in a backyard of what i guess what the officers house at one point. The grounds were ok for something located in the slums. I couldn't hear a word of the ceremony because of the loud music and thugs yelling and laughing on the other side of the fence. I didn't feel safe and our car was acutally broken into in broad daylight. We then proceeded over to the reception room int he main hotel. I have been a server before and all I can say is those people need some training. The room was just ok and smelled like urine. They started cutting the cake before the first dance. They spilled champagne (whcih came out late) down the back of a guests dress. The DJ went MIA for 20 minutes and the room was left with no music. The bathrooms were durty and the toilets clogged half way through the night. No bidy bothered to check or clean them. SOme gangster looking guys that i passed by in the bar were drunk and making passes at the guests. At some point they actually came in the reception and some gifts went missing. The servers and manager did nothing to stop them. The food was good though. I don't know how they pulled that one off. To top it all off the "wedding Planner" who looked all of 20 years old spent the whole night trying to get in every male guests pants instead of paying attention to the couple. I would avoid this place like the plague.
Undiscovered Gem. I am new to this and have just started my wedding planning. i stumbled across this place and was skeptical at first because of it's location (yes it is on an old military base) but once i drove up i completely forgot about that fact. the place is beautiful. well kept gardens. lush lawns, friendly people and great food. I toured twice with the wedding coordinator and booked my wedding. i'm using the Generals Garden for the ceremony and reception. Its a great package where everything is inlcluded and the price is fair. also my guests will be able to stay in the hotel - the rooms are really nice too. i would reccomend this location to anyone. they take care of everything for you and if you can rent one of the gardens do it. they are beautiful
