The BEST GYRO & Halal Food in Sacramento. I went to Crest Cafe the other day for lunch for the first time. Even though the restaurant seemed a bit overcrowded with customers, but it was worth of waiting in the line to get my lunch and the food was very good. I have walked pasted the restaurant every day for the past year and finally gave it a chance. The Garlic Chicken was awesome, the chicken was juicy and the rice was perfectly cooked. I have gone to other greek restaurants in the area and the chicken is usually dry. The place also offer terriffic lunch buffet which contains variety of dishes and Afghani famous Kabeli rice, chicken kabob, shammee beef kabobs.Crest Cafe is far superior over their compeditiors. Best of all the food was served fresh and quick, two things that are very much appreciated on an hour long lunch break. Im glad I finally gave one of Sacramento?s best kept secrets a chance. I will definitely be back!!!

I tell all my buddies to go there and give it a try. Best food ever.

So So Many bad things to say about this place. 1) Falafel was "instant" and not fresh and was very dry

2) pita falafel came on (not in) was so stale that it broke apart when I tried picking it up to eat

3) the hummus was terrible. It tasted more like ranch dressing that hummus...huh?

4) The AC was not working (in early August while it was 100+ degrees outside)

5) The service is as lazy as possible

6) I will not go back and will advise others to stay away from this place

An atypical cafe next to the Crest Theatre featuring coffee, tea, falafel, shawarma and a sparkly belly dancer.. The Scene
The counter setup and austere decor create a basic coffee-shop appearance. Sunlight streams through the wide glass windows during lunchtime as state workers rush in to grab a quick bite. At night, the pulsating lights of the Crest Theatre glow faintly; on weekends, a slim belly dancer shimmies between tables.

The Food
Some of the basics are fatally flawed: Baba ghanouj clumps with sweet, rather than smoky, eggplant chunks, while hummus and falafel lack fresh accents of lemon and parsley. However, spanakopita (delicate, savory pie) deliciously falls apart into papery, rather than oily pieces, its silky grilled eggplant putting baba ghanouj to shame. Chicken sumac comes fragrantly flavored with garlic, sweet red onions, fresh parsley and pine nuts. Instead of ending with an overly sweet, sometimes stale Mediterranean pastry, opt for a robust cup of coffee.
