customer service needs to be a lot better.. In any resturant customer service should be very positive. here is is very less than average. The food was simple Indian food with a better presentation. The tatste of the food was okay. I had better tasting food from other Indian and Nepali resturants. To me and my friends, it was almost a waste of our time. Once was enough. Food and Customer service needs to improve a lot. If it does than these people can make more money.

worst customer service experience EVER! PLEASE READ!. ok, a few things. first, my mom and dad went to the buffet awhile back and took my little sister who DID NOT eat anything, she didn't even get a plate, but the place still charged them for my little sister. so, be aware, if your kids don't eat or if you plan on eating with kids there, they'll charge you for your kids! second, i took my mom with the family a few nights ago for mother's day dessert and tea. it was close to 9pm so my mom went in and asked if it's ok to dine and was told "it's fine" by another waitress. as we went in, another waitress/owner, POINTED to our table where we should sit while she was fixing another table, and then we didn't even get the chance to sit down and even open the menus when she said, "ORDER FAST!" we were like, WTF! she was SO RUDE! she didn't even let us sit down all the way, like our butts weren't even on the chairs yet! she didn't smile, she didn't say anything! we should have left but i didn't want that to ruin my mom's mother's day, so we politely ordered and at the end of the night we left, and of course i left a horrible tip. as we were there, another group came around the same time where the same lady said they were closed but i believe the group argued that there was no sign up yet so she let them stay. i say, if there's no sign, that's the restaurants fault, secondly, why argue when they can get more business?! i guess she didn't want our business nor the other groups! my family and i officially agreed we are no longer going there. as the lady is an owner, it was horrible customer service skills and business to patrons.

Great for the buffet lunch..... Pooja is one of my favorite local Indian food places.... for lunch. I like the food and am guessing that maybe the less than stellar reviews came from dinner patrons. I've always have gone there for lunch and only recently went there for a dinner (actually called for a take out dinner). Dinner I caused me great disappointed. The portions were very small and expensive. I continue to like the lunch buffet and consider yummy food at a good price. The buffet selection is probably around 9 dishes... or so. Not as much selection as Kavari on Fulton, but closer to my work and house. The staff are not super friendly, but at a buffet situation that really does not matter much.

Nice family restaurant, no loud music. I have travelled in India and cooked Indian food myself for 30 years. We ate on a Wednesday night, ordered full dinners, all four different. The lamb was tasty but tough. Chicken Tikka was the best dish of the meat items--very tender and flavorful. Chicken korma had a terrible flavor, really wasn't nice...no one liked it. Wine list is hilarious: chablit, burganday, all Sutter Home. At least it's cheap (2.50 glass). One person thought they had added water to the wine though. Our waittress spoke little English, but performed nicely. Food service was prompt. Interior has been redone, the chairs are so Taj Mahal looking, they are great (we sat in a booth however). I ordered the vegetarian Maharani plate which cost more than the other dinners. It's listed under "feasts" at the bottom of the menu. Feast, not really. Skimpy portions for veg food. Nice naan and samosas (the meat filling is ground, not so nice), vegetarian are the best. The Saag paneer (spinach and Indian cheese) dish ala carte was fabulous. My husband liked it and he hates spinach. Two people could just order that and bread, perhaps one more side dish and be totally full. We will probably go back sometime, but will be more careful ordering the meat dishes (ask about the cut, white or dark meat, etc). The ala carte portions are very generous, but the whole meal combos are only about 1/3 cup each item. My rice was cold and under cooked. Upgrade to basmati or order more naan and forget the rice. We all ordered "medium" spicy and nothing was at all hot. I hate to imagine mild. Like Mexican, I prefer a little heat in Indian food. NOTE: Both my husband and I (HIGHLY unusual for me) had indigestion after dinner...the dishes are very rich. They use lots of cream in the dishes to ramp up the flavor.

Crappy Service, Unprofessional behaviour of the owner. This is to bring to your and your management notice, the very insulting customer service recieved from Pooja India Grill Restaurant, Sacramento. This is the second time we experienced it.

First time, the owner was very upset when we showed her the certificate for 25$ from restaurant website. when we were paying the bill. The owner rudely mentioned that we should have shown it before having dinner. We were surprised at this behaviour because no other restaurant ever asked to show it beforehand. But we kind of took it for granted, thinking that this might be the way they operate.

Today, we went there to have dinner after a long time, and showed the certificate, beforehand. She looked at it and took out a register and showed a manual entry and claimed that the certificate was already used. She clearly refused to validate it with Validation Line, making the excuse that she was extremely busy for that. She was maintaining a register where she had possibly all the unused certificate numbers issued for the restaurant and was using that as a validation rather than your validation line. This upset us so much as this was a clear case of Cheating/Fraud. Myself and my family were so angry at her behaviour that we walked out of the restaurant and the owner conveniently ignored it. This is very unacceptable and we want to take a legal action against Pooja India Grill

Excellent, dependable, and delicious.. I am surprised that folks have had poor experiences with the buffet, though I've never been on a Saturday. The food here has always been good and I'm told quite authentic and I've also been happy with the service. I'm a fairly regular customer and have eaten there both for lunch and for dinner on many occassions. So, I know that the food is predictably good and that the service is also usually very good. The restaurant does have a bit of a slower pace to the atmosphere and you won't find the staff running frantically from table to table, but I like that relaxed feeling. I've brought many of my friends here both for the fabulous and varied lunch buffet and the excellent dinners and they have all really enjoyed it. Many have become regular customers as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to others and will be continuing to frequent it myself as one of my favorite restaurants in the area. In fact, I'll be eating take out from them tonight, I can almost taste the Chicken Vindaloo now. I would recommend something in particular, but while I've explored the menu widely, I've not yet found anything that I didn't enjoy.

Horrible Service, Horrible Food. We went on a Saturday during their "Lunch Buffet" and were quite dissapointed. After reading the good reviews, I had hoped for much, much more. The buffet was small, with only a few dishes, and the service was HORRIBLE to say the least. It seemed like "Such a chore" for her to get anything, sodas, naan, or even the check. The business is clean, but, I'd rather eat somewhere else any day. We will NEVER go back.

Best in Sacramento. Best indian food i have ever tasted. I used to live in the bay area and ate at some indiam restraunts there. I'd say this is the best indian restraunt in Northern California.

Best Indian restaurant in Sacramento. I had a couple of Indian colleagues take me to this Indian buffet place and was pleasantly surprised by the quality fresh Indian food! Its been difficult to find a good Indian restaurant in Sacramento until now. Other places like Kaveri have bland or cold food which is not that good and poor service. This place rocks and do the buffet for best deal in town. The naan bread is hot tasty and fresh and the tandoori chicken rocks.
