NOTHING beats El Portal in All Of Auburn/Lincoln.....NORCAL Actually. El Portal has the best mexican food in Auburn. If your looking for something authentic this is the place to go. Fast, cheap and awesome service is all you need!! I recommend the Burrito Banado with Al Pastor meat! All My friends order Chicken Chimichangas, and everything on the combo plates is exellent! If your having trouble picking what to eat the owner is always more than happy to suggest his favorite dish's! .... Im heading there now, all this made me hungry!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Auburn Ca.. I'm a junior at Colfax HS, and I practically "live" at El Portal. My mother is Mexican and she can't even make food this good....I'm serious!!!

Omigod, I just love the "Caldo De Mariscos" (Seafood stew). Its full of shrimp, octopus or calamari (I'm not sure, they were good), crab legs, clams or mussels, and of course fish. This is the most expensive dish on the menu ($14) but anywhere else, you'd pay $20 for this much seafood.

My dad is a pig, he likes the 3-item combination plate ($9,25), with taco de carnitas, sope de lengua, and a sope de carnitas. Oink Oink....but he says they're really authentic.

Best Mexican Food in Auburn, CA. We like to stop at El Portal, on our way to Skiing or Lake Tahoe. El Portal is a taqueria, very authentic and affordable. Nothing on the menu is over $10.

The Real Deal!. Mexican cuisine in the foothills used to be pretty mediocre, until "El Portal" came to Auburn. The place is extremely clean, the service is prompt and efficient, and they serve REAL Mexican food (not some gringo imitation). Those who want less authentic Mexican food should go across the freeway to Maria's Tacos (which is OK if you don't like the spicy stuff!)

We recommend the "Lengua" and "Carnitas". GET THE THREE ITEM COMBINATION PLATE...its the best value on the menu. Try the "Sopes"....you can only get better ones in Mexico!!!!!!
