Great Happy Hour. Trisha Flynn and staff run a great restaurant. Constant new selections on the Happy Hour menu mean we always get to try something new. The service has been great and there is definitely a Capitol feel inside the restaurant. Only downside is that it can get crowded so make sure to get there early if you want a seat.

Great night out!. My husband and I decided to celebrate our 1 year anniversary at Chops. We called and made reservations and the hostess assured us we would have a romantic table. When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted with a warm welcome and a "congratulations" on our anniversary! We sat in a cozy booth and received excellent service. I loved my pork chops and my husband enjoyed his salmon oscar (topped w/ crab, bearnaise, yum yum yum). Great night out!!

Fantastic Downtown Grill. My husband and I were surprised by this treasure in the heart of downtown. A half a block from the State Capitol, the Chops restaurant serves great meals in a sophisticated yet comfortable atmosphere. Mixed reviews on these pages had us on guard. Our experience, however, was terrific. Friendly staff, great food, warm atmosphere and a great bar. Highly recommended.

You eat here, you put money in a crooks pocket!. Food is mediocre at best. Chef Shawna Menard seems to have studied at the Sizzler Culinary Academy. In fact, should have continued with a career tract with Sizzler. The owners Geoff and Trisha Flynn, frequently have public spats in front of customers. Mrs. Flynn throws tyrannical temper tantrums at the staff in front of customers. Just an all around bad experience. For a real culinary experience, Ella around the corner, is exquisite. Even Applebee's would be a fancy dining experience compared to this third rate chop house!

Exceptional service. Despite reading mixed reviews, I decided to try it out one night. I understand where there might be a little misunderstanding about the service provided because I did experience it as well. But what made the experience better was that the manager recognized the slow service we got and took it upon himself to actually serve us. He was very professional and accomodating. The food was done the way we wanted it--and you have to be careful with that because the meat cooks a little more raw than usual because of the way it is prepared and handled...aged 28 days at 32degrees. The manager also offered us a complimentary dessert for the rough beginning we had but the service and the meal helped us to forget about it. We shared the 32oz porterhouse with crab cakes and a side of baked macaroni and cheese. It was delicious! Even the day after, cus we obviously could not finish everything, it was still very good reheated. I recommend this place but you definitely have to have one hell of an appetite for it.

Worst Customer Service !. I came into to Chops last Feb. 2007- and was really disappointed of how rude the watiresses were and the manager. We were sat in a section that no one was willing to serve us and when we asked for help or direction to another section, the younger waitresses ingnored and sighed. I called the manager the next day and he assured us that he would send me an apology letter and a gift. After, four calls to this manager, I never heard from him and he basically lied to me over and over again, saying it was in the mail....

Never again!!

worst steak in Sacramento. i have eaten at Chops about 2 years ago and thought it was great. Tonight I was disappointed beyond belief. We ordered Porterhouse for 2 Medium Rare with a salad. The salad was good but when the main course came, it was overdone (more like well done instead of medium rare and cold). The steak was served cut in slices.. I have never seen Porterhouse served this way. I think the cut was actually Tri-TIP and it was served in a sauce (YUCK). We ate the meal and then both had stomach problems later that night because of the over use of meat tenderizers. I will never go back to Chops until I see a packed house. It was very strange to go there at 8 PM Friday without a reservation and be seated quickly with some empty tables around us. AVOID

A complete dissappointment!. My husband & I decided on Chops due to one of the reviews. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We went early at 6 p.m. & were quickly seated. The ambience is nice, the server was friendly, although too pushy with the desert tray (felt like I was buying a used car). The Steaks were awful (overcooked, so they had to re-do my husbands & mine tasted gamey and old (3 bites & I had them toss it) I didn't ask them to deduct from the bill; it's my fault I went there in the first place. We each ordered a cocktail that were still 1/2 full when we left. (not good) They brought us water that tasted as if it came from the bathroom tap (you know, that dusty smell & taste, like the ice sat in the freezer for months on end) The best part of the meal was the Salad (this is extra $$). The total cost of our meal was $114.00 (1 cocktail each, 2 salads, 2 dinner plates) I have been to less expensive steak houses & received a much better meal. This was a waste of money & time.

Wonderful food and ambiance!. Go to this restaurant. My husband and I go here all the time and we enjoy fabulous food and great service every time. The prices are reasonable and the waitstaff are friendly and knowledgeable. A must-eat!
