In Short
Floor-to-ceiling windows, shiny black-and-steel accents and a bright gold-and-green concrete floor make for a hip, modern vibe. The main attraction here is sushi, from the extensive selection of nigiri and sashimi to the original specialty rolls. Other Japanese staples such as chicken teriyaki and tempura are also on the menu. Numerous varieties of sake are offered, but the only dessert is mochi, ice cream covered in rice dough.

I love Mikuni's, it is totally my favorite sushi place! I have been going to Mikuni's for over 12 years, no one else compares.

My first experience at Mikuni's was at this location - what a blast! It was the most lively sushi restaurant I've ever been to...and it was here that I discovered the tasty Marilyn Monroll! Yes, it was a long wait...but it was a Saturday night. Yes, it was pretty expensive...but it was worth it. Mikuni is great for most people's idea of Japanese food and they'll be wowed by the variety of specialty rolls...but if you're looking for an authentic, high-quality "traditional" sushi experience, don't come here. You'll be disappointed.

I went to Mikuni's with a date, who really wasn't into sushi. That right there gave me insight to the range of food offered at Mikuni. The rolls list was expansive, and yes, as some people have said, many of them have tempura, cream cheese, or something deep fried. But there's an entire list of traditional dishes, raw rolls, and an large nigiri list to choose from for the sushi-lover at heart. And for my date? They not only had the non-raw rolls, but also a full cooked food menu including teriyakis, soups, and more. <b> The service seemed slow, but any idiot can see with a place like that it will be. The place was packed. I will tell you now, if you're looking for a quick sushi, go to some crappy place like Tokyo Fro's. If you want to complain about wait times, service, and waiters who aren't there to read the emotions off your face, go somewhere else. <b> I have been there 6 times now, for dates, parties, and casual dinners, and all times have been excellent. When something came out wrong, it was returned timely. The nigiri was cut to size, and not too big. the rice was small, and not overpowering. <b> I ordered a Pepperfin: thin cut slices of white tuna in a light ponzu and sesame oil sauce with thin sliced jalapenos. At first glance, I thought, "the fish is drowning in the sauce, this will be bad". The sesame oil proved me wrong. Ponzu sauce, being mostly water-based, added just a hint as it fell to the place. The oil, which did not saturate, collaborated with the already butter-like quality of the white tuna. It was amazing.<b> Take who you want here, but do it with style: bring dates here Sunday-Wednesday nights: friends for lunch any day of the week, and co-workers and partiers Thursday-Sunday nights. Kampai!
