Editorial Review for California Fats – by Sarah Van Den Bosch
The Scene
Deep reds and dark woods surround the entrance and main dining room; a rickshaw hangs from a bamboo ceiling. Intimate booths with amber hanging lights lend themselves to romance or a friendly business lunch. In the waterfall room, customary Asian decor is set aside for a sleek waterfall that runs down the entire wall of the light-filled room. Families also blend into this collision of old and new at large, accommodating tables.
The Food
With a mix of many Asian cuisines on the menu, even the pickiest eater can find something to like. Chicken pot stickers are crispy and well seasoned, though dim sum choices tend to be gummy and need dipping sauces for a flavor punch. Korean barbecue is all salty, spicy goodness, while juicy flank steak medallions lack flavor. The shrimp fried rice, studded with plump morsels, is enough for several people to share. Light and velvety banana cream pie is a refreshing finish.

I love the decor of this restaurant and three-story levels. The ambience downstairs with the red lights is great. The food is always good, but portion size is small. Parking is limited.
Pros: Great ambience, Good food
Cons: Limited parking, small portion size
